As an answer to my own semi serious question at the end, I don't have any way to really prove it, but I suspect that all these things have continued in the cycles we see now and there are some historical records of meteors and things in times before Christ. What I think is that God is so deliberate in making these things not discernable by us on purpose. He hardly ever has a singular meaning for things in the Bible and He doesn't say we'll know when the Day of the Lord is coming. So, of course, it's mystery. But so interesting to ask Him questions about these mysterious things!
