I like Gretchen Rubin’s quote about forming habits, “Make it easy to go right and hard to go wrong!”

This was unexpected, but in a good way. I watched a financial video and got great behavioral psychology advice.
I may have misunderstood it, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to have a not-so-good reward for habits that I want to break. Perhaps having a good reward for NOT doing the habitual act that I want to break.

Crap I feel too seen. The butter cookies, I finally had to not drive that route so no reason to go in and buy them. I do reward my daily cream bagel with 30 minutes of exercise and I am fine with that! I was going to the hair salon to the tune of $250 a month and after the last no notice BS reschedule/cancellation by them I decided I would do it myself. I now send that money to my brokerage account!

For people who already do not buy a latte every day, but want to increase your savings, I suggest you that look at the other side of the coin. Somewhere there is a person who is in a very similar financial situation to you, but who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. Pretend that you just quit smoking, and save & invest the cost of a daily pack of cigarettes. Increase your investment as the price of cigarettes increases. Use the tips in this video to help you to form the habit.

An interesting way to reframe the situation! I imagine that could be highly effective for the right person. Thanks for sharing :)
