My grandmother is Lebanese and brought up in the Maronite tradition, although I have only known Western Catholicism my whole life, one of the greatest joys of being Catholic is knowing that we are one with the Maronites within the communion of Holy Mother Church. God bless Lebanon!

Thank you for the kind words, friend. I've been trying to focus on middle eastern Christianity as of recently as a way to show them my solidarity. Even though I'm not ethnically middle eastern, I used to be a Melkite myself, so it's also a way to reconnect with this part of my spirituality.
I personally think it's a pretty language, especially in a non-muslim setting. But regardless of personal opinions, it's pretty hard to deny the fact that "God" in Arabic is "Allah" and it's actually been used by better people than all of us for longer than we can remember. That'd be like refusing to say "Dios" because some cartel gangs use it, lol
Thank you for teaching me about Bachir Gemayel, Nero, he seems like a cool guy. It’s too bad he sided with the long-noses though. I love the guy on your image rocking the M16A1!
@ExCathedraFBIV Hey Nero. His Wikipedia page says that he worked with the Israelis on some occasions, and the Israelis supplied his men. He still seems to me like a good man, though.
The reality is that he opposed the PLO (which was using Lebanon's refugee camps to attack Israel) and that made Israel try to woo him. He took advantage of that and managed to secure some strategic cooperations, but notably told the Israelis that if they wanted a slave instead of a partner, they would have to take him prisoner. Bachir Gemayel is, for me, the best example of what Christian leaders in the Middle East should do: friendly with many, friends of none. I hope his soul is resting in peace, as he was genuinely the best Christian leader of that region in a long while
To add just a few more paragraphs to my reply, the relationship between Lebanon and its neighbors is very unique. Lebanon is the only Christian-majority place in that region, and the Lebanese are culturally unique in that they have (genetically and culturally) retained much of the pre-Arab invasion ways. Bachir was well aware of that, and tried to pursue a strict pro-Lebanon stance, in that he refused vehemently to take part in any type of fight that didn't directly involve Lebanon, and at the same time tried to engage his neighbors impartially and strategically. It just so happened that his Israel deal was more publicized due to the fact that Lebanon was the only country in that region doing that at the time. If you think THAT was wild, wait til you learn that SADDAM backed the Maronites

I cant say "Allah" to God. Sorry.
Dude denies the Arabic language. Brutal.
@@ExCathedraFBIV Arabic is up there with German and Mandarin as the ugliest languages known to men.

Allah is from Allahum in classical Arabic which means Elohim/Eloh and Eloh in Arabic means god too btw
