Tried this a couple pf month ago, been making it ever since. Always comes out perfect. My family love it. They say they don't miss outback at all. Thanks your directions are on point
That is just awesome, and I sure do appreciate the positive feedback on this recipe! I’m so very happy to hear that your family loves it so very much. Have a wonderful rest of your week😉💜💜
This is really a good recipe! I only did half of the recipe bec I just wanted to try it first and so delighted on how it turned out. Though, I used crushed cornflakes for the coating and it added another layer of texture. Thanks sharing this recipe.
Hands down our favorite restaurant! We love their food, especially their bread. In our younger days, when our children were young, we would drive over an hour for all our family events at Outback. Kids are grown and gone now, so we rarely go anymore. That just makes this recipe all the more dear to us. You sure are helping us out with your "copycat Wednesdays" and all your other recipes. We just have a hard time deciding which ones to make, since it's pretty much all of them but, I'm sure this one is gonna be made soon. I have bread flour but I'll have to get the wheat flour before I can make it. I really hate to have to wait! (All things in good time I suppose.) I hope y'all have a blessed week, what's left of it. Take care and kisses and hugs to miss Brinley!
Thank you so much Deb! That is such an amazing memory going to outback as a family! As a child I would also go there often! Just remember if you make this, its not exactly like the outback bread it’s a little different but it’s similar! You as well have a blessed whatever is left of the week (:
This recipe left a tactless taste in my mouth. You can see the air bubbles and know this bread recipe is dry. I think you should use the Martha Stewart's Molasses Oat Bread recipe on TH-cam. It is of better quality.😊😊😊
love the video. thank you so much. You inspired me to try with what i had on hand. i used Brian logerstrams one hour pizza dough recipe but added 2tbsp molasys 1 tbsp instant coffee powder. I wound up with a delicious bread similar to outback . I will be trying yours exactly when I have all the ingredients. best to you and thanks again
I can't wait to try this, I LOVE Outback's bread more than I do Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits (and that says a lot!!). Thank you for the recipe, your bread looks FANTASTIC!!
Thank you so much Bella! Just remember if you go to make this it’s not exactly like the outback bread buts it’s close!! Have a blessed rest of your week my sweet friend ❤️
Thank you so much Michele you are sooo sweet! It isn’t identical to outback but in my opinion I think it’s still yummy! (: I’m sure you are a still young mom at heart ❤️
I baked your recipe exactly and it never wanted to rise. I’m not sure what I did wrong but it tasted delicious. I wish I knew what I could do to make it project correctly. 😢
I am so very sorry Natalie. I’m not sure what happened either🤷♀️ I know that sometimes the water is just too hot and kills the yeast. That could be what happened here or the east could have been a little too old. I sure hope you enjoy some of my other videos and thank you so very much for watching🙌🏼
Thank you so very much for your question, Claire. It may not have as much chew to it as it would with bread flour. I believe it should still work fine though. Please let me know how things turn out and I hope you enjoy🙌🏼
Form it into loaves and dredge in cornmeal, then freeze them on a cookie sheet. Once they're frozen you can chuck them all in a bag and pull out as many as you want to bake and set then on a cookie sheet, covered and leave them for around 2 hours at room temperature to defrost and rise before baking.
I tried this recipe and followed it to the letter and i did use a kitchen aide with the hook.At first i thought what? did i use too much liquids? but i was being very careful and i'm 100% sure i used the correct amounts. I even backed off the 1/2 tbs molasses but something went wrong my dough turn out somewhere between almost runny cookie dough and brownie mix with a quart jar of elmer's glue mixed in. It was like the blob and there was no rolling it period much less in corn meal hell i couldn't even get it off my fingers without warm to hot water. however i did use a butter knife to scrape it off my hand and fingers into a couple bread pans just to see whats will happen. I was so looking forward to having me some outback bread, oh well guess i'll have to try again maybe this time not so much elmers :)
I am so very sorry this happened to you! I feel so bad! I’ve mad my dough not work well in different altitudes when I went to make different recipes. Maybe if you feel crazy enough to make this recipe again try to add some more flour until it gets thicker! Again I’m sorry!
I had the SAME EXACT issue as you did. However, I just used some flour to dust it on a cutting board, and gently rolled the dough onto the board, sprinkled some flour on the dough, rolled it a little, and followed the rest of her instructions. I didn't want to give up right away.....so perhaps try that and see what happens. 🤷🏽♀️
Same situation so I added about 1/2 to 3/4 cup more flour than recipe called for and used a lot on my hands and the counter top to control it. It was hard nearly gave up but I’m so glad I didn’t because it was delicious
That’s a good question! They are similar to each other for sure, but I know that the cheesecake factory brown bread has espresso powder in it and Outback’s does not🤗 they’re both super tasty though!!
Apparently I suck at baking. Followed along with the recipe, thought I was found everything right. My dough was super super sticky. Stuck to the pot, stuck to my hands, etc. finally worked it into 4 small loaves, put it in a warm place for an hour, they increased a bit in size but not double. Baked them and they’re actually gooey inside. Baked them longer and they’re just super dense and chewy. Not sure what I did wrong but I’ll try again later.
Thank you so very much for your question! Typically when that happens, you need to add more flour. Bread is a little tricky sometimes depending on the amount of humidity you have in your kitchen or heat, etc.🙌🏼🙌🏼
In your video you are adding 2 PACKETS of yeast while you are saying ‘adding in 2 TABLESPOONS of yeast well each packet of yeast is about 2 1/4 t. Which doubled is only 1T + 1 1/2 t. (Almost 2 T. ) can you clarify what you mean? 2 tablespoons for 2 packets of yeast?
I made you recipe, yesterday, but it did not turn out, as expected. I did not have any honey and used corn syrup, instead. I also forgot to add the cocoa powder. It made a good bread but not exactly like the outback bread I have eaten many times. I also had to cook it a little longer. Overall, it was a good first attempt at a new recipe. I still love my Kaiser roll recipe. I have not had good luck with rich doughs, in the past.
WRITTEN OUT RECIPE:
1 1/2 cups water warm
2 Tbsp dry yeast
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 Tbsp molasses
1 1/2 cups wheat flour
2 1/2 cups bread flour
2 Tbsp Hershey's Dark Cocoa
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup Cornmeal for dredging
Instructions
In the bowl of a stand mixture, dissolve the yeast and 1 Tbsp of sugar in warm water until mixture gets foamy. Whisk in the honey, brown sugar, egg and molasses. Sift in the remaining dry ingredients and knead 10 min over low speed. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Cut each part into 6 equal pieces and form 6-7" long narrow rolls. Bake in a pre-heated 380°F oven for 15 minutes.
You say Hershey's dark cocoa, then use Great Value....Someone cheated :)
Whatever is wheat flour? I'm guessing All Purpose flour since you also use bread flour, which is also wheat flour
Wish you can use gram instead of cup for more acurate measure
Tried this a couple pf month ago, been making it ever since. Always comes out perfect. My family love it. They say they don't miss outback at all. Thanks your directions are on point

Thank you! Took your advice and reduced the molasses…it was perfect!
That is so good to hear! Thank you so much for sharing that and I hope you have a great weekend💜
There's nothing better than freshly baked bread and butter. Good job.
You are so right Leslie thank you (:
This is really a good recipe! I only did half of the recipe bec I just wanted to try it first and so delighted on how it turned out. Though, I used crushed cornflakes for the coating and it added another layer of texture. Thanks sharing this recipe.
I’m definitely trying corn flakes on it next time that sounds delicious I’m so glad you like this recipe have a blessed week!

This actually has more flavor than the legit Outback bread, but it is denser. The real stuff is much lighter. The search continues.
My granddaughter loves OB bread, I might bake this for her, thanks so much!
I sure hope she enjoys this recipe, Sandi💜
This recipe left a tactless taste in my mouth. You can see the air bubbles and know this bread recipe is dry. I think you should use the Martha Stewart's Molasses Oat Bread recipe on TH-cam. It is of better quality.😊😊😊
Thank you Julia, I really like the Outback bread, it seems to have a coconut flavor and it is very clear
Wow great job i love there pumpernickel bread especially with butter it's absolutely delicious and thank you for the recipe i appreciate it.

one loaf would've been fine with me. the finished loafs looked amazingly scrumptious with the butter!
Thank you so very much! And hope you enjoy this bread🙌🏼🙌🏼
I can smell it already!! Tfs, I'm going to bake this tomorrow. Love your channel so much, Have a great day!
Thank you so much! I’d only add a tablespoon of molasses instead of the tablespoon and a half if you were to make it! Have a wonderful day!
I've got to try this outback is my favorite restaurant thank you Julia
It’s so yummy thanks!!
You made this look very easy. Thank you for the recipe.
I can't wait to try this, I LOVE Outback's bread more than I do Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits (and that says a lot!!). Thank you for the recipe, your bread looks FANTASTIC!!
Thank you so very much for watching and I sure do appreciate that!😀
I am going to try this recipe and do the no kneed method and cook it in the Dutch oven.
Love the bread at Outback and Longhorn! Yum!
Thank you so much my sweet friend ❤️
Thanks for doing the video. Gonna try.

I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks so much for sharing your positive feedback🙌🏼
Excellent recipe! Next time I will make one loaf and one pan of rolls.
Looks amazing, going to try it, do you recommend a certain type of yeast for the recipe?
I’m so excited to try this. Can you please recreate Panera’s tomato basil bread please?! Thank you!
Yeah I’ll try it (:
I have to try this bread! It looks delicious! Love all the recipes you share Julia! 😊❤
Thank you so much Jamie! Just remember it’s not exactly like the outback bread but it’s close 😊
I've been thinking about finding a good copycat for this type of bread. My family LOVES it!!

Looks so good. 💕
Thank you Patricia 🌸❤️
Yum! 😋 I have to try this.
Thank y ❤️
if I wanted to make several little tiny loaves would you leave it the same time in the oven?
Have it at the same temp but it will take less time! Just keep an eye on it
Must try this.
Hope you enjoy😀
Looks great. I’m trying it now but I accidentally used all purpose flour instead of bread flour. I grabbed the wrong flour. Would that still be ok?
Thank you so very much for your question, Claire. It may not have as much chew to it as it would with bread flour. I believe it should still work fine though. Please let me know how things turn out and I hope you enjoy🙌🏼
@@JuliaPachecoit worked just fine, also delicious. Thanks!
My parents ordered outback today JUST for the bread! I wish I’d seen this first lol I may be using your recipe soon!
Your parents are so cute ❤️
How much is just the bread
LilLezzy Nation i mean they ordered an entire meal because they wanted to eat bread from there lol the bread is free
If I were to freeze the dough for later, at which point should I put it in the freezer?
Form it into loaves and dredge in cornmeal, then freeze them on a cookie sheet. Once they're frozen you can chuck them all in a bag and pull out as many as you want to bake and set then on a cookie sheet, covered and leave them for around 2 hours at room temperature to defrost and rise before baking.
Delicious!
Thanks!
I’ve made all sorts of breads, but I’ve somehow never worked with yeast. I find it so intimidating for some reason!
Omg thank you, can't wait to try it!
Yay! You will have to let me know how you like it:)
I love homemade bread 🍞 yours really looks soo good.i really hope to try this bread.thank you Julia 😊💛 fantastic job 👍👍👍😇👍😇😎💛🤗😊😎🤗🤗😊👍👍😋😋
Oh, this looks really good!
Thanks my sweet friend ❤️
Do you have to cover it when it proofs
You can do that if you would like. It definitely keeps some heat in that way😊
Oh, if I could only eat bread again, looked delicious Julia! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Paul!! I’m so sorry you can have bread! Have a safe day my friend 😊
Julia Pacheco It’s ok. One day I will again!! LOL! Thank you and I hope you have a good day too!!
hi, I was wondering what type of wheat flour did you use? can you show a picture of it? thanks , can't wait to bake this.
RECIPE..keeper🍞..🖒
I love that bread!!! We always called it chocolate bread, but thought it was just a sweet bread😂❤️looks SOOO good
Thanks so much (:
They turned out so pretty!!!
Would using white whole wheat flour work well?
Thank you!
Looks amazing but i dont have bread flour ,oh boo ,will it make a difference if i use all purpose ?
Can you make a copy cat version of Heinz ketchup 1896 recipie (smoky)
That is a wonderful idea Brenda I’m really going to look into that recipe, maybe I’ll try it! thank you!

Wow and only 15 minute to bake???? Amazing......Does it freeze good?
Im surprised you havent made a basic homemade bread yet❤
I do have some bread recipes. If you Google my name, Julia Pacheco homemade bread recipes they should pop up for you there🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’ve never tried Outback Steakhouse bread before. Sad, I know. How does the flavor compare to The Cheesecake Factory’s brown bread?
That’s a good question! They are similar to each other for sure, but I know that the cheesecake factory brown bread has espresso powder in it and Outback’s does not🤗 they’re both super tasty though!!
@@JuliaPacheco only the copycat recipes have espresso powder in it.

That is so strange Lisa! I am so sorry that this happened to you.😞
I made this and kneeded it for ten minutes and it was still just as sticky as when I started. Perhaps I goofed the recipe, if not; Any tips?
Thank you so very much for your question! Typically when that happens, you need to add more flour. Bread is a little tricky sometimes depending on the amount of humidity you have in your kitchen or heat, etc.🙌🏼🙌🏼
What kind of wheat bread! Whole wheat or white wheat???
I love outback bread but I've never made homemade bread of any kind before.
Thanks for the support (:
😍
In your video you are adding 2 PACKETS of yeast while you are saying ‘adding in 2 TABLESPOONS of yeast well each packet of yeast is about 2 1/4 t. Which doubled is only 1T + 1 1/2 t. (Almost 2 T. ) can you clarify what you mean? 2 tablespoons for 2 packets of yeast?
This thing only takes 15 minutes to bake?
I know, right? I feel like there's no way these are going to bake fully at 380 for fifteen minutes. There's an egg in there!
You said 2 tablespoons of yeast. But only used 2 packets. Each packet is only 2 1/2 teaspoons. Is it 2 packets or 2 tablespoons?
NO oil or butter needed in the dough??
The butter is what makes it please make the butter

You're looking just over the camera. It freaks me out.
