  • In this video, you will know what is the difference between Water Softener and RO System? [Reverse Osmosis process]. People often ask if they can drink water processed through a water softener? Do you need a water softener with RO? Do you need RO to treat hard water? This explanatory video answers all these questions along with the explanation of the Ion Exchange Process, Water hardness, TDS levels in Water, RO Filters, and Water purification and Water treatment solutions for residential and commercial purposes.

A water softener is meant to remove the water hardness caused by a combination of Calcium and Magnesium by a process called Ion Exchange. This media called Resin in the water softener is charged with sodium ions or sodium chloride contained in the brine tank during the regeneration process.
The Calcium and Magnesium that comes in contact with resin beads are exchanged with sodium in the resin thus converting hard water into soft water. ground water from bore well, tube well hand pup, and wells are by and large hard in nature. This causes scales to form inside pipes, water heaters, heating elements, or boilers. The scale shortens the life of the products and also affects our hair and skin badly and also raises your electricity bills.
Soft water will only reduce hardness in water but will not change the existing TDS levels in the water. That's why using a RO for drinking water is necessary.
RO or Reverse Osmosis is a water treatment process that removes contaminants from water by using pressure to force water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane to remove all unwanted particles, contaminants, sediments, salts, and also minerals. RO works by using a pressure pump that pushes water through a series of filters such as a carbon filter, sediment filter, RO membrane, and activated carbon post filter.
This RO process ensures that all impurities are filtered out, providing good-tasting drinking water. RO filters out 90% of dissolved pollutants through their semi-permeable membrane. Reverse Osmosis is considered the best purification process through which you can effectively reduce and remove harmful organic and inorganic contaminants. It also removes lead, salts, and minerals from other contaminants such as arsenic, copper, and radioactive contaminants. It is also very effective in removing bacteria and viruses from water.
Just like there are hard water softeners available for both domestic and commercial purposes there are also RO Filters or small RO machines and huge RO Plants available for Villas and Commercial spaces.

Water Softeners are designed to address the problem of hard water and do not remove other water contaminants such as organic matter or other chemicals, many of our water softener customers also use a drinking water purification system. Combining the benefits of a softener and a drinking water purification system are, for many, the best solution to healthy water for your home and your body.
