Not Philips screws. JIS is what they are. Philips is better than pozi drive but try a JIS screwdriver. It will allow you to get tight screws out. You will never go back to Philips!
The slide is a real PITA to get it to set. I have to make sharpie tics where it aligns so I am close while manhandling the cable/spring/cap. It is possible to drop the throttle slide only 50% deep and man , the next time you start you will have a heart attack!

YES IT SCARES THE TWO STROKE OIL OUT OF YOU WHEN THAT HAPPENS . AFTER DOING IT OVER 50 YEARS IT IS STILL A PITA.
Surprised you didn’t tap the emulsion tube out and spray carb cleaner through and watch for all the holes to have a nice clean spray.

Checking the plugs every now and then will tell you if it's running rich or lean too.
