I haven't watched one of your videos in a while so shame on me so I had to make sure I watched this one. I do think you are the most sophisticated and cultured gent we have in the community.
Oh I am sure happy I have been exploring Floris. I want to come to London and visit their shop. Perhaps you and I and Claire can pop over there together ...some lunch, a bit of shopping, Tea in a nice hotel (Dukes?) ,... some more shopping... the Pub for drinks, darts and dinner? I need to work on this trip. Cheers.
Well Lanier, you've had quite the afternoon haven't you?! Chanel books, perfumes AND bubbly! I am exceedingly envious. Actually I've had a good afternoon too. I saw The Darkest Hour (Oldman Sensational!) in a York cinema that I used to usher in. It was quite run down but a new company have given it a restoration bringing it right back to it's 1930's Art Deco heritage - beautiful!!! Talking of films, of course one of the best magic hour scenes is the pre credits sequence in OHMSS "This never happened to the other fellow". Anyway, I'm in competition with you. My next video is a haul! My rookie mistake was to not drink Champaign as I filmed it! I'll put it up on Saturday. May the best haul video win!
I love that opening in OHMSS!!! Such a great intro to the "New Bond" That was tricky. And AND he was dubbed! (by George Baker who played Tiberius in I Claudius!) Oh I can not wait to see The Darkest Hour and your Champagne review...Off to check it out now. Cheers my friend.
How did I miss this video? What a wonderful surprise! Reminded me of the fabulous Jicky, the EDT which was first gifted to me in the late 70s. I never forget Jicky, or the dear friend who introduced it to me. Thank you. ❤️
Wonderful haul, two of my favorite things, books and fragrances. I really need to dig deeper into the house of Guerlain.I do have some vintage and some new, but never enough skin in any given day to give all of my collection the consideration it deserves. Perhaps this year, I will do a perfume house a month. :) I look forward to your reviews. Take care Lanier! ---Debbie
Debbie darling ...When it comes to having lots of fragrances and only one me, I regulate my fragrances here at Oakwood Abbey in the following way. After my 5:30 am shower spritz of a Eau de cologne (last about 20 minutes) then I choose a morning fragrance, something light. After lunch when I change into my noon attire I pick an afternoon fragrance of a bit stronger concentration. Then in the evening I spray on a cocktail/dinner fragrance that is bold. (thus the combinations of the earlier fragrances that linger create a marvelous layer effect. Finally when I retire I envelope my skin in a bedtime fragrance and fall into a sweet pillow of dreams. This method invites the participation of many more of my many fragrances and they all get a whirl on the dance floor of my life. Cheers
This is a wonderful to start your day with champagne & fabulous fragrances & specially Guerlain that I love ❤️ love ❤️ . Books look amazing with an era of glamour and sophistication . Absolutely stunning ! I just sprayed 2 sprays of mitsouko to start my day . Cheers 🥂
I am brimming with jicky, jealousy deary. Oh my word. Now, that was one hell of a haul. And might I add, you looking dashing with that scarf. I just spent 300 on my perfume wish list. Can't wait to smell them. Glory smells days to us all. Xo
I thank you Kimberly and my scarf thanks you too! Oh yes...isn't it pure joy to get a bunch of long, longed for fragrances. Wish lists are there to not only wish upon but to, from time to time be granted. Big HUG.
Very nice haul Lanier. You were running out of spots to spray them on you LOL. Always a pleasure to hear from you. Will you be doing a vlog tour of your beautiful home now that your settled in? Be well my friend.
L'heure Bleue..is actually a term named for the time of the day when right after twilight on a clear autumn day the sky(esp w/o clouds) turns the deepest blue , right before it turns to black......Its best to see this in an open air setting w/no city lights apparent. I have many times seen this phenomenon and actually have waited for it when i knew the conditions would be perfect for viewing.................an amazing sight................lets always keep looking up.........Bob
Ooh, your opening title sequence is gorgeous, with all the liqueurs, perfumes, and old-Hollywood photos! Aaah, I got really excited for you when I realized you were opening Jicky. I've only sampled it but a full bottle is in my must-haves. What a great haul!!!
Hello my friend. Always a pleasure to watch your videos I learn so much. You need your own TV show traveling the world trying new great frags and fantastic wine's We all can learn so much from the great Mr. Smith. Peace and much love.
This is a great video! Getting new fragrances is exciting, but from Guerlain-- absolutely thrilling! And so many! L'Heure Bleue is enchanting! I'm especially looking forward to your take on L'Homme Ideal. Thanks for this, I'm sharing in your excitement!😉
I hope you do one of your first-class, artful reviews on Jicky. I have the EDP, and I'm still trying to appreciate it. This is the first Guerlain in my collection that I can't yet understand. Strange as it has all the elements that I like: citrus, lavender, amber, incense, vanilla. Maybe I need to try the EDT. I always look forward to your reviews.
Guerlain have the most beautiful perfume bottles! I absolutely adore Acqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. I also had Jasminora and Nerolia Bianca from the same collection.
You really treated yourself! I knew you were going to say ‘Jicky’! One of my all time favorites. I wore the EDT also. Enjoy, and looking forward to your reviews.
What a splendid haul! Congratulations! Very sensible to open a small bottle, if you won't be drinking it all. Though La Vreeland did recommend washing one's daughter's hair in flat champagne, which gives it some use. Mind you, that advice only works for people who have daughters (or sons, let's not be sexist, though no shame in Diane since she wrote that in the 30s, I believe). Then again, why shouldn't we wash our own hair in our flat champagne? Why should children get all the best products?!?! Having said that, I feel that the best use for champagne is to drink it. I have a bottle in the fridge which was produced by Nellie Melba's great grandchildren. Being Australian, it is not called champagne, but I don't care about that. I only care about the bubbles! Keep on enjoying your perfumes and have a totally gala day! I am looking forward to the reviews. I like what I can see of Oakwood Abbey!
Gary Cooper was so handsome, he reminded me so much of my dad's brother Jesse. They both had that cool kind of swagger. Not over the top if you know what I mean. Peace and be well my friend ✌
Ohhhh I've often said that if I had to pick one house to get fragrance from for the rest of my life, it would be Guerlain; simply for their depth, breadth and history (thank goodness I don't have to do that, that might break my heart a little). I definitely would love to get a review on the L'Homme Ideal...stunning bottle. I enjoyed that unboxing...I've been stalking vintage Passion by ET on Ebay, as well as Vetiver by Guerlain. Fingers crossed :) I sent you a PM as well about a fragrance event in Portland next month! Thank you dear Lanier! So enjoyable to sip a bit of bubbly with you at the end of a long, stressful day. Cheers!
It's always fun to see your fragrance hauls! Fantastic stuff! I just got L'Heure Bleue this week myself, and I think it is hauntingly beautiful. Guerlain truly makes some masterpiece fragrances. I think my spring is going to smell like L'Heure Bleue, I can't get enough of the violet and Guerlinade drydown. Thanks for another great video. If you ever get to the eastern side of our beautiful state, perhaps we could get together for a drinky and some perfume sniffing! :)
Ah! Lanier time. Happy Valentine's Day 💞 to the man that started me back into fragrances! Cheers, sweetie, cheers!!! It's A fun time. Where did you learn your filming technics, please? You always transport me. Lovely books & stuuuuff The way you sniff your index. ... Cocked eyebrow ... hehehe! I'm badd. Kisses dear man!!! 💋💋💋
Awww Clista how sweet. Where did I learn my filming skills. Long story but it all began by going to the movies when I was a kid and paying attention to the technical side of the films. Movies I really loved I would see more than once. First time for the story and then the second for the technique, angles, lighting, when to use a closeup, editing, music. Editing, that is where the film is really made. I had my own armature film studio when I was a teenager and cranked out potboilers, had garage premiers and always invited Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton to come to them. they could never make it but she always sent a lovely thank you note.
To sum up the differences between Lanier and I...classy Mr. Smith flips open the Chanel Catwalk book to find photos of stunningly attired models on the catwalk, whereas trashy Mr. Jiim flips opens that same book looking for photos of models in a catfight. LOL! Fantastic late-Christmas Haul - look forward to plenty of reviews in the coming months!! Cheers.
The Abbey is coming along so nicely! I'm so pleased that you are up-to-date on your Guerlains! That was a golden age in perfumery with the houses bringing forth some absolutely brilliant scents. Jicky is absolutely amazing as are all the Guerlains of the era--Vol deNuit, Shalimar, Heure Bleu, Mitsuko, etc etc. I'm going to be interested in your take on L'Homme Ideal. I tried the EDP for the first time in Italy (Caglieri I think?) this October and...well...I walked it right out of the store. Lovely scent but the almond sweetness was a bit too goumand for my taste. I like my men sweet and my fragrances not ;-) xoxo
It's truly unlike any cologne I've tried-- the woody notes shimmer with the use of bergamot, and yet becomes something truly unique. It's also fantastic as a room and fabric spray.
Lanier, I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos over the years, and this one ranks as one of your best. However, have you ever thought of using scent cards or strips when testing multiple fragrances, in order to avoid the inevitable clash?
Hello James and thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment. Yes I have in the past. I just was too excited to find them when the packages arrived. I will attend to the strips from now on because of course you are absolutely right! Cheers
The champagne is back! You have been missed. :) With the exception of Aqua Allegoria Pera Granita, Guerlain fragrances are not for me. However, their perfume bottles are exquisite.
Ah I certainly understand that Guerlain is not for every nose. But no need to cry over that, lets have a glass of champagne and toast to those fragrances we love. Cheers luv.

I haven't watched one of your videos in a while so shame on me so I had to make sure I watched this one. I do think you are the most sophisticated and cultured gent we have in the community.
You are so kind and always thoughtful Chad. I guess that's one, just one reason you are so important and a good friend. Thank you.
I love your intros. Very well edited and put together. What a beautiful and expansive haul! Great video. Thank you, sir.
Thank you Bernie I am so happy you enjoy my little cinematic efforts. Cheers.
A very enviable haul. You've made me want to try some Floris fragrances again. Looks like a snazzy place you got there too!
Oh I am sure happy I have been exploring Floris. I want to come to London and visit their shop. Jicky takes a while for some of us. I too was confused at first. Give it a chance and see where it goes. Cheers Jean-Luc
Best opening yet!!!!! Love it
I literally JUST bought Jicky, L’heure bleu, & Du Coq in December. They are all SO beautiful.
Great video and intro as always, Lanier! Beautiful home you have there!
Thank you so much Svtang03! Cheers.
Two Guerlain fragrances I really wish to know: Jicky and L'heure bleue. Love your bathroom. Cheers!
Thank you Liz. My bathroom is a dream come true! Cheers.

Merci Ani! (I just love saying that to you.) Jicky forever! Cheers.
Great review Michael! I like the new camera setting and the view of the stools. Can't wait to sit on them and cook at the island.
You better cook ...lets do a cooking video when you come up! Cheers and a big HUG (How is Miss Julie?)
Fantastic haul Lanier !
O.M.W. What a haul!!! Those frags sound fantastic.Thank you for sharing! p.s. Your new home (in the background) looks beautiful!

I will give you a hint abut LHomme Ideal.... I love it! Cheers
I recently bought a full bottle of Guerlain Eau de Cashmere and I really wish more people would review it, it's one of the finest frags I've tried.
Kevin I have to check that one out. Big HUG my friend.
It's truly unlike any cologne I've tried-- the woody notes shimmer with the use of bergamot, and yet becomes something truly unique. It's also fantastic as a room and fabric spray.
Ohhhh...Lanier I’m going broke but it smells so nice I don’t care 🤩💋
Would you be kind enough to do a video on how you store and display your perfumes? Thanks! Doc

MadameWolf for me too please yes the names ..
_From Guerlain, in order of unboxing_ Chant D'Aromes, Jicky, Eau de Cologne du Coq. - L'Heure Bleue, L'Homme Ideal, From Floris_ Zinnia, Victorious_

Lanier Smith thank you so much! I will be touring on April and I’m happy to know that my destination has house of Guerlain and Dior where I can buy store exclusives! Lanier Smith asian cruise 7 countries😍 but the part where it makes me want to scream internally is the perfume I can finally have because I couldn’t afford it in the past ☺️
At first I thought you said, Coco with Ashton Kirkland. Hmmm, this can't be right, he'd be dead now. And then Douglas registered. :)
Ha LOL. Cheers Tal.
I like your watch Lanier. From wich brand is it ?
Piotr Wziatek oh that’s my old Armani watch. I love it too! Cheers
Wonderful haul. Love the house of Guerlain. Would you say that most of these are gender friendly? I value your opinion very much. So far you have steered me in the right direction. Peace and be well my friend ✌
Ah by gender friendly I am assuming you mean unisex? Yes! Even Chant D'Aromes though soft and curvy has a soapy masculine edge to it. Unisex probably a better choice of words. Morroco one of my favorite Dietrich films. Thanks for getting back to me. Peace and be well my friend ✌
Tommy! You know Morroco? That just made my night! Cheers.
What a haul! I bet your home smells delicious with all those fragrances being sprayed! I loved the books also.
I have a question. Your bathroom is stunningly beautiful. Do you worry about humidity from the shower effecting them in any way?
Most of my perfumes are not in the bathroom and those that are get rotated out about every two days. And then...if they go bad...well, "let them eat cake!" Cheers Catherine.
