We ditched our turf tires about 10 years ago because we were getting stuck and tearing the yard to pieces. These tires work so much better and actually do a lot less damage.

A really good zero turn tire for hills and steep ditches are knobby tires like the old 3 wheelers had.. Ag tires are ok but still have some side sliding.

I have a Snapper Zero turn 42 inch and not safe of a hill with regular tires. I purchased a pair of Sunf ATV 20X10-8 tires. from Walmart. I have not yet got them on my mower but looks like you answered a lot of my questions. I do not want to end up in my creek, so if it was to hurt the lawn I could care less. Thanks for the view. I drove my first Dixie Chopper for 20 years with the tractor-tread tires. Went through 2 sets. They are the only way to go in my opinion. You just have to take some time to learn how to use them, and just don't try the fancy, fast 180 degree blinding speed spinning turns like the sales ads show. I cut some serious hills and one wrong move and I am in the South Anna River. My new Dixie Chopper has the turf tires. They are horrible for traction unless you are cutting a football or soccer pitch. At the end of this season I will be getting rid of them and getting a set of the tire-treads. Great video. Thanks

I changed my 0-turn tires also. I went a little taller then aired way, way down to 4-6 psi. I'm at the same height and get a nicer ride and the balloon affect gives better traction than fully inflated. No 'hills' here but do cut a drainage ditch and also get a bit swampy around the barn. I went with a MaxAuto 22x11.00-10 Lawn Mower Tires, 22x11x10 Golf Cart Tires. Not your paddle tires... more AT design. Mine are 6 ply but now only list 4 ply. Stock were 20" tall. but they make a 23... I may go with them. I'm a bit hard on tires. I use mine like you use yours. ;) Don't forget to re-adjust your deck.

I said hell with it, and got the sharp shouldered Carlisle tru power for the rear and super lugs for the front ( in my particular size the only option for the front was turf tire or super lug...) I despise turf tires with the passion of 1000 burning suns so I went with the latter. I will say though the tires were squashed in shipping so they deformed to the point I couldn't get all of them to seat so I soaked them in ether and exploded the bead on for a nice toasty seal... (note, I had to put them out because they were still burning for about 10 seconds or so lol) But hey, its always a fun project when shits exploding and on fire. Can't wait to go drag shit for no particular reason and drive up mountains.

Do you notice a difference in the ride?
I've been considering going to ATV tires for the sole purpose of getting a smoother ride. Most of my lawns are pretty rough, beat the crap out of you rough.
I recently rode in my neighbor's side by side. He drove the thing into my shop of which there is a good four to five inch rise from the gravel to the concrete. I expected a real serious bump, I have a bad back and these things affect me a lot more.
Much to my surprise there was no bump. I felt absolutely nothing when the machine transitioned from gravel onto the concrete inside the shop.

Hey Axe, these types of tires are not made by the same standards as car tires. If you put 12psi in each tire, the diameter of the tires may be different. To property inflate these tires, you need a dress makers tape and a thumbtack. Anchor the end of the tape with the thumbtack as close to the center of the tire on one of the lugs. Wrap the tape around the center of the tire and bring the tape together and note the measurement. DO this for the other tire and adjust the air pressure until both tires are the same diameter. You will probably find the difference in air pressure is 5-10psi. The reason for this is if you have two tires with different diameters, it will pull to the side with the smaller diameter. I put more aggressive tires on my Bad Boy for the same reason you put those tires on yours.

My neighbor put Carlisle all trail II tires on his mower and he loves them. They may have a size that's closer to what you're looking for. I know I couldn't find my exact size when I was looking for the at101's.

I don't think there would be enough contact patch with the ground. Bad boy has some tires on their new mowers I think they're called reapers something like that would probably work better but ultimately I think you need to hang some weight off the back check out this video he's doing exactly what you're talking about.th-cam.com/video/V7h1UWzXvyA/w-d-xo.html

Thumbs up on the tire tip bud, but go ahead and order yourself some new Spindles right about NOW! BB Mower spindles don't hold up and now that you have added a little mud and water those things just lost their life.

These types of tires don't work in reverse... And if you spend them you've dug yourself in... Turf tire can you use a oscillating tool to cut off every other row... Straight bars... They work forward and reverse, just buy the tool and cut up all the tires you want...

Looks like the cheapest way to get more performance out of a zero turn. Good to know.

I sure hate to pull nearly new tires off. But if different tires make my mower more usable it's worth it!!

Ok, I understand where you are coming from BUT, you wouldn't cut MY yard with those. HOWEVER, more times than not, it's the operator.

I have a Bad Boy Maverick. I bought these tires believing the hype. My 8 acres have never been more tore up. I am sorry I put my money in someone else's pocket for this.

Bad Boy mowers - awful beyond awful. Also you that puts more strain on your hydro servos...so something with a bit of lug, but not quite that aggressive is best. But in any case, lose the crappy Bad Boy.
