Dr Sasha talks to special guest Dr Brendan about how he prepared for his AMC 2 clinical exam.
Dr Brendan not only passed the AMC 2 clinical exam FIRST go but he also did it while working full-time in an Australian Hospital.

Unfortunately this course is no longer in operation. But I can try and find a similar one to recommend as so many people are asking!

Thank you for these wonderful tips! I was wondering - some say that the clinical exam environment is very different from real practice. For instance, you have to do Hx, PE and give dx and ddx all in 8 minutes for the exam, which is nearly impossible to do in real life practice. And because of this, I’ve heard that HMOs already working in the system have a lower passing rate (also because they have less time to study). Would you or Dr Brendan happen to have any comments on this?
Personally, I think it is so difficult to study for AMC 2 and work full-time. (Caroline) I know my limitations and already I know this is not something I would be able to achieve but that doesn't mean you can't. Some people are amazing at balancing and really productive in the way they study. That's not me.
Factor is as well when you get your first job it's not just working full time that impacts your study. It's the mental strain on the job because while you might know the medicine you know nothing about how the system works and how to be a junior doctor in Australia. It's usually the paper side of medicine like ward lists, discharge summaries , referrals that get IMGs down and that's a huge stress to try to navigate and then go home to study for AMC 2.
So overall it's a personal choice. Know your limitations.
Obviously if you had no choice you would just somehow find a way to cope but if there were other options you should always explore

Just a quick question, you mentioned the cost of wba is about $9000, the AMC website lists the cost as $1000. Is the AMC site incorrect or are there costs payable to other institutions not listed? Thanks!
So you pay $1000 to the AMC because they support the hospital that runs WBA and some admin on their side but $8000 is paid to the hospital. So in total $9000.
