    Wonderful footage of the spanish imperial eagle, a pride for my country. Mike, you have to photograph the bearded vulture in the Pyrenees, it is another wonder bird of Spain.

    Was recently at El Taray during the summer and was also lucky to see the Egyptian Mongoose, initially I thought it was an Otter !

      Shame we have to manually focus with slow motion.

    Great footage.
    I've also had that vibration problem in wooden hides with people moving around. I was the only one shooting video so was the only one affected. Everyone else was doing photos so weren't bothered.

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes vibration with video is an issue.

    Green woodpeckers and perhaps surprisingly, hummingbird hawk-moths also crap just before taking flight.

      I would imagine most bird species do, but it is hard to see in smaller species.

    Marvelous footage Mike. That puts my two seconds of a Marsh harrier on Salisbury Plain the other night to shame unfortunately. Incredible set up well worth the heat great video 👍

    Really loved your eagle videos and photos, I am really impressed by the Om camera and that fabulous 15-400mm lens.Its so expensive to switch system, I have canon including a 600mm lens, a 400mm f4,0 and 70- 200mm lenses + some of the nice sigma art lenses, but I feel more and more tempted...

    These eagles are majestic. But I must say on a big 27" screen the FullHD from OM-1 shows its not very good image quality. I wonder if C-AF 4K120p from G9II and slowing down the footage a bit more with Davinci Resolve 18.5 frame interpolation wouldn't yield more pleasing results. I am still trying to sell my GH6, and maybe even the OM-1 to replace it with G9 II. Also with such a low Mpix count you have to always try to fill the frame with your subject, as the image is not so croppable so you always risk clipping a wing or a tail.

    Stunning video and stills, Mike. Have you ever considered controlling the camera's operation using an app on your 'phone? It would be useful when shooting from the hide with your Belgian mate; and could possibly avert a war between your two countries. 😉😀

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I have the app, but it goes unused.

    Looks very similar to Scotland's Golden Eagle.

    • @MikeLaneFRPS

      I think they used to call it the White-shouldered eagle because of the white patches. Otherwise I think it would be hard to tell the difference.

  • @pankajnjoshi9673
    @pankajnjoshi9673 ปีที่แล้ว

    How are they attracting the eagles to the hide?

  • @Henry30065

    Mike, your images are always pin sharp. Do you turn off the image stabilising system on your cameras and lenses when using a tripod and or monopod? Thank you for the excellent videos. Alun

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never switch IS off and use a tripod most of the time. Even on a tripod IS has work to do. It is an easy test. With a 300mm lens (and larger) on a tripod activate IS by holding down the shutter button and look in the viewfinder. Now switch IS off and do the same. With it off you will see lots of shake in the viewfinder caused by your hand on the shutter button. IS gets rid of this, even on a tripod and I have never seen a downside. At fast shutter speeds maybe there is no advantage either.

    Great shots, really enjoyed that, magnificent birds!. Just one question to ask Mike, do you have some particular bird or habitat anywhere that you really want to photograph or visit that you haven’t had the chance to yet. Lots of us would be curious (or a bit nosey!) to know that. Thanks.

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  ปีที่แล้ว

      British wise it was the Golden oriole, but I did it this year. In Europe it would be the Duponts lark. Does not get photographed often.

    Great video. I laughed when Frederic said, `Mike is all me, me, me ! ` 😂 Are you going to try the Panasonic GH6 II for video ? I wonder if its any better than the OM1 for slow mo video ?

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spec looks good, but I have not seen any convincing demos that the AF for video is better. If I have the money I will buy one to try, but funds are low. I think the tax man expects me to pay for this several miles of this new railway!

    Lovely video. Are the birds gathering at the hides because they are baited or is there a water source.
