No. Was it his entertainment? No. It was because he tried something new. Yuya was in the shadow of Yusho. That's why he didn't understand what made Yusho so great. Yuya realized the pendulum is his creation... Only to have his character arc ignored after the Syncho arc.

But the ending really didn't deliver, and the interesting bits of Yuya got erased with his memories(? It was really unclear what happened, I've gotta rewatch it again because I'm still not sure). The same thing happened to Carly, another character I liked from 5ds. I feel like when you give a character interesting development, and then erase their memories you erase that progress. So I did like Yuya, but the writing really fell off when they tried to wrap things up. He was missed potential, similar to Carly.

People think Yusei is perfect and that’s it, but he had to work for it. He had to build his deck, his runner, formulate a plan to integrate into the City, and he did it without having a shop that contained rare cards or a fancy duel school that taught him. He had to learn on his own and acheive “perfection” And to be honest he’s not perfect as there have been situations where he was scared to duel and situations where he believed he should rely on his friends and self-sacrifice

Yuya’s the best protagonist imo. His personality is just a pleasure to watch, and unlike the other protagonists, who eventually end up becoming dark, brooding people even if they start out chirpy, Yuya still tries to keep smiling. The true spirit of games.
Lmao, even Yuya got taken over by the dark power. And he’s nothing special, he’s basically Jaden with the happy factor on steroids.
He wouldn’t even be interesting in the first place without the introduction of ZARC and the other dimensional counterpartd

But he’s rightfully the King of Games proving it so by defeating Egyptian Gods, doing pretty good against Jaden in S4 (even before Atem took over), and he dueled very well in DSOD

Yuma is so goated and i watched all of em. Yuma loses sure, but that what makes him human. Not some overpowered fate bending powers. Sure he has a fair share of plot armor but he still genuinely feels humam.

Atem: cold feelings -> having feelings and caring about friends
Jaden Yuki: Chill, Childish and having fun -> serious and smiles less
Yusei Fudu: Perfection that Konami wanted
Konami needed to make it charecters that can be related to after the fans requested so they made yuma and yuya
Yuma: Childish and losses a lot -> Mature and knows how to duel well
Yuya: Blindly following his father and a crybaby -> a smaller version of his father that changed his style of dueling
The fans were made at how the charecters are so weak and have emotions so they made the cold hearted playmaker

Yugi muto is weak at first because at a time he always relaying on yami yugi

People think Yusei is perfect and that’s it, but he had to work for it. He had to build his deck, his runner, formulate a plan to integrate into the City, and he did it without having a shop that contained rare cards or a fancy duel school that taught him. He had to learn on his own and acheive “perfection”
And to be honest he’s not perfect as there have been situations where he was scared to duel and situations where he believed he should rely on his friends and self-sacrifice

Just because a character is "strong" doesn't mean they are better.
Cause he's so generic. His character, his deck..it's all just the same stuff we've seen over and over. Overly optimistic boy. The only scenes he felt interesting were where he wasn't even himself. And his deck was just..not interesting to watch. The show would have benefited from Yuto being the protag.
Yuya is mid by himself, they literally had to introduce counterparts to make his character interesting.

Playmaker's alright for me. I was initially so hyped that we were getting another Yusei Fudo style character finally but uh, there's not a whole to Playmaker imo. Great backstory, great deck, great design, not a huge fan of the character tho
