Great talk and photography. One of my fav trees too. My best example is one in Rochester's Highland Park Arboretum planted in 1908 and it still sits half in the sun. Unreal beauty each spring.
Somebody told me wrong at the nursery then because they told me it does well in full sun. I planted one 8 years ago or more in my front yard. I think it needs pruned.
Question: this is Year two of our TCB here in Idaho and I noticed that a few branches had no leaves. Last year it did great after winter but this winter seemed dry and we now have what appears to by some dead branches. Is this common, or is it due to the dry winter? The branches have green in the core.
Our tri-color beech's leaves are turning brown on the edges as of August 6. I don't think it's getting its Fall colors yet. It is 13 years old. We HAVE had a lot of rain this summer in Pennsylvania. Could that be the cause?
have you figured out the issue with your beech? mine has had very sparse foliage past few years I want to think it's late frost damage? but on yours most variegated trees get some browning on the leaves towards the end of the season. if it's a new thing that's happened just this year it may be the fact that our ozone is being depleted via geo-engineering? the sun is so much hotter and more intense than it used to be so I had to get some truth in here! go to geo-engineering watch or here on TH-cam (and I hope I spell it right) dane witington's channel to learn more
