I actually worked on several of these ranches or farms during the 90's clearing scrape metal from the properties.

Frank Brady from Okeechobee comes to mind. The Brady Ranch…was bringing it in by the tons…I’m reasonably certain that an individual that I was acquainted with made a few runs for them as a pilot. Brady went on the run for years trying to evade arrest. When the IRS finally cornered him in West Palm and took him in…they found out that he was being helped and bankrolled by the DEA who had him as a paid informant and was protecting him. He wound up in the Federal Penitentiary in Miami for about 5 years for tax evasion. They confiscated all of his land, thousands of acres, and gave it over to Florida land management and it became part of a wildlife management area. We used to hunt there.
There was a group of ranchers that they called the Okeechobee 8 tied up in that mess with the Sheriff of the county running defense for them all. He was later indicted along with the ranchers and just before it went to trial he did himself in. It was a big thing back then. Made national news. It was a relatively small population back then and most everyone from around there knew one another or was related somehow. There weren’t many secrets that everyone didn’t already know…lol. 😮

I flew contraband into Mexico during the 80s out of McAllen, TX. Mexican land owners, if they weren't paid their fee, would not hesitate to give you an unfriendly reception if you landed. I survived 3 ambushes. Over & Back by Wild Bill Callahan. TH-cam. 4.7 stars. Enjoyed the video. When somebody threatened this old guy he should've threatened them back. No restraints in the threat department. Mexicans would've said "Bring it on gringo! Pretend we threatened you first." They were nobody to mess with & not impeded by our silly ass laws. More than happy to blow your brains out like they almost did mine.

LOL you guys think this is all over with. It would blow your mind how many ranches are owned by the Colombians down here. Yea they got cattle on them. But it’s not just a cattle ranch. We still have plans land in the middle of the night on small patches of runway.

I agree. There is no way I would use a saw on a gun barrel. It leaves to many burrs. Better off using a high speed grinder with a diamond cutting wheel. Welcome to Florida sir.
