Nice to see you again, Panos :) I have a large playlist regarding the game. th-cam.com/video/YvEiGYWAWW8/w-d-xo.html The game was overhauled at episode 17, so I restarted the campaign, initial episodes where made with an older version of the game. I will stream again tomorrow at 6 pm, feel free to join. I hope you have some fun :)
Hetman. After several plays up to late May 1775, persuaded on taking the extra infantry unit. I think this game applies a corollary to the famous expression about Vienna: "If you are going to take Vienna, take Vienna". In this game it's: "You may not want to take Boston, but Boston wants to take you, so take Boston first". Plan to bulk up fast beat the British in detail and make them come to me to cut down the exhaustion. Exhaustion seems to be much harsher in this game than in Ultimate Admiral Age of Sail, but won't compare with Ultimate General: Civil War as I haven't played it enough. On troops, like giving Washington the willpower buff for all troops, then promote the first troops with the Stamina buff. It's worth noting that if this game works like its predecessors, then exhaustion will affect morale/willpower - so a stamina buff is also a morale/willpower buff.
@@hetmanRTS So got my ass handed to me several times on trying to take Boston, going with the extra infantry unit. Going back to extra 1K Brown Bess and NOT try taking Boston right away - garrison strong in Providence and Middleboro with Militia, buy 4 lbrs. total of 8 and take their full militia regiments: 2xmilitia, 1x cannon, 1xminute man (Going to be my new standard Militia Regiment build) and 2 Fusilier regiments West for forts, then swap out for 6 lbrs. on taking Forts. Re-build out garrisons in East with 4lbr. cannon companies in East garrisons where recruiting is faster. Buying cannon early means I'm prioritizing the Market Stalls early for money, and selling some/all my copper. I sell my linen early and that useless cutter you get at Newport - more money, and the officer is usually pretty good for the Intel Department. At start, this means 4 of 6 companies in each start Fusilier can have BB '69. My big hard-learned take away. For the West going to see if I can combine Minutemen, and they get priority on better weapons as poor man's small Fusiliers. Big take-away from about 3 re-starts: Big Battalions Are Better. Always combine companies at least 2 at a time at start - which can be done at deployment, found not too hard even with about 4 weapon types: Civilian, French '66, BB '69, and BB '78. I think this really helped in my 2nd Ft. Tico battle. On troop perks. If you Washington to Willpower perk, then you can give the Stamina to built troops and they get both. I then go Assault course on Perk 2 for all militia/fusiliers. I really like the way this game works even now - delayed intel, recruiting, logistics, and the mixed regional/settlement econ builds especially. Very much what Total War never was, and challenges even hard core wargames because its much more intuitive and accessible.
OK so now I've verified by trial that indeed minutemen can only be 1 company per militia regiment, but they CAN combine. So with two militia regiments you can make a baby Fusilier battalion of 2x100 man companies. Looking at the stats minutemen are comparable in fighting effectiveness to fusiliers. The other upside is these can be easier to get enough upgraded muskets for also. Spanish 55, BB 69, ect. I spend money to get all my militia cannon to 4lbr Gallopers as well. So priority is carpenter, money, recruiting, schools early on, and furs. What I've realized is the game in effect encourages making battalions of two companies. In the Civil War a battalion was a thing below a regiment of multiple companies, but my impression is losses in effect meant regiments functioned without them so much. ISTR it was two 500 man battalions of companies per 1000 man regiment.
Bit confusing early on as to what to invest in and what buildings to construct. They don't really tell you what is needed early on or what you'll need later. I'm stumbling around building things in various towns, but not sure if needed or the right thing to do. I ran out of supplies at one point and took awhile to resolve that issue.
It would take a long time to explain here. I've made a tutorial on construction / economy / tech. It is a bit out of date due to new buildings being added and tech tree changes, but it's still very usefull. th-cam.com/video/T84_Sx7ZxG0/w-d-xo.html I will make an update in the future.
I am going to wait until british campaign is available. Hope after they are done with this they do Napoleonic war version. Or redue the civil war one like this
Experience. If you play it right you should have about 2k more men than the British at the battle of Boston. The numerical advantage is necessary considering their superiority in line infantry, weapons, and cav.
@@hetmanRTS I already took Boston. I used a strategy to defeat the British in detail. First, I took Salem to cut off their supplies. Then, I lured a quarter of their army out and half of their cannons to defeat them with my full army. After that, I took care of Boston with the remaining troops. Despite having 3,900 men against 3,200 British soldiers, I barely won. What I mean is, how did you get a unit with outfitted regiments? Usually, I can only have 4, but you had 6.
Militia regiments have a max of 4 companies. Fusilier regiments have a max of 6 companies. Get your fusilier regiment in the city, double-click on it, and you will see a pop-up window with a unit commander and 4 companies + two empty spots on the roster. When you click on those empty spots you get to choose additional companies and their weapons.
I don't like the invasion mechanic in this game. They just land 5 cav regiments and just B-line straight into the middle of your territory. It's not really a threat, just really annoying and bad game design. I'd rather have them come in as additional reinforcements for the british which they can use to build up a big enough force to be used to move south. Then you'd have to man your borders with a substantial force yourself.
Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the mechanics. They cover the underlying problem of AI. If AI was able to manage the construction and recruitment of new regiments it wouldn't need that many reinforcements. "SMART AI" is something that I don't believe we will see in this game.

That's cool man.
I usually go with stamina for line infantry and morale for militia.

Ultimate General: Civil War is the best in the series so why you skip that? Probably very cheap to get now as well
@@bennyboy5374 Didn't skip it and have played some of it and like it a lot, but UG:AR even now is a much deeper game with a lot more to it.

50 USD is a bit too much for the current state of the game.
Grabing it on a sale for 25-30 USD with British campaign would be a catch.
Really liked the video
I'm glad you liked it, Felipe :)
You can join me tomorrow for the stream, at 6pm central European time.
I can’t get past June. British come out with a ton of troops how the hell are you get so many troops in the American army so soon?
You should watch my stream from a few days ago, this video is old. Good luck with your campaign!
@@hetmanRTS will do, thanks
Ultimate Generals maybe replacing Total War if CA insists on going sci\fantasy.
They have a long way to go, but it might happen.
Wait how the hell do you have THAT MANY TROOPS THIS EARLY!?!

i fought this battle so many times, just can't win it. every youtuber makes it look so easy, not sure what the hell im doing wrong
Why haven't you invested in Provincial Infrastructure?
It's way too expensive when it comes to construction material to build it early on, it's more of a mid to late game investment.
@@hetmanRTS Cool, thanks!
Can you play as the British?
Not yet, but they are working on British campaign.
I guess it should be playable in a month or so.

Still cannot play British WTF going on been awhile now it Should be top of list MUST DO
Yeah, but It's a very small team of developers.
They are focusing on crashes and bug fixes.
