As for Jesus, it is all about his obedience to God. Jesus has learned how to communicate with God and at times may not understand what may be. He does realize that God is moving him and he continues to respond.
Jesus was crucified late on Wednesday, not Friday! Remember the sign of Jonah - 3 days and nights - 72 hours in the grave before He was resurrected! Count back 72 hours from very early Sunday ie just after sunset and you get Wednesday.
Does he come in to prove he is the messiah...or to make the point that real power is not an outward showiness? It is usually used by conservatives to prove he is the messiah...but maybe he is just making a statement about power.
This whole thing about Jesus and the Gospel accounts of his ministry is just too damned complicated for simple people to comprehend. I have studied, like our speaker here, several years, the gospel texts. Done my bit with Literary Criticism, Textual Criticism, Source Criticism, Form Criticism, Historical Criticism, Redaction Criticism, Bultmann, von Rad, etc. ALL bullshit in the end.
