I bunked off school to go see it in the UK on opening day, Friday 13th December, 1996. Aged 13. One of those core life experiences, absolutely awesome movie!
I love that Worf/Picard stand off. 1:29 After Picard calls him a coward. Worf: “If you were any other man, I would kill you where you stand.” He respected Picard so much that he was able to restrain himself.
@kendallrivers1119 . Are you kidding? "The borg have taken over the ship, this is the best time to arrest one of my crew members." The scene specifically shows that Worf was 100% in the right and Picard had lost his ability to think objectively with the Borg.
I remember walking out of this movie and the feeling staying with me for ages. Kinda made me hope for the future and humanity, like we could do anything if we pulled together and maybe there was a whole universe out there that one day we'd get to explore. When is the last time anyone saw a movie like that that inspired you to look at the world in a better way? Unfortunately ST has been killed off by soulless corps who never cared what star trek was at its heart. We'll probably never see movies like this in star trek again.
I really do wish I was born before this era of Star Trek so I could go see this film in the theater. Its my absolute favorite Star Trek movie and I can only imagine how awesome it was to see on the big screen.
The voyager era borg and especially first contact borg terrified me as a kid. Seeing half assimilated enterprise crew in this movie was the stuff of nightmares
I was lucky enough to watch First Contact in the theaters back in the day. I'd watched the first 6 movies on VHS, and watched Generations in the theaters as well. Also watched TNG during its original airing. So I was incredibly hyped when this trailer came out. Got to see this and Mars Attacks as a late night double feature. It doesn't feel that long ago...
I was 8 or 9 when this came out saw it twice the same day back to back cause we had missed the first 10 or 15 minutes the first time. It was also so good that it deserved to be seen twice in the same day. My favorite movie of all time even though the borg terrified me at that time.
This trailer gives me chills. Saw this in theaters at age 10. Never realized they sampled James Horner's Search for Spock theme for the trailer. Good stuff
I wish I could have been the age I am now, and seen this in the cinema as an adult star trek fan rather than being a 2 year old baby. I'd have been hyped beyond belief.
I remember seeing this trailer the first time it came out and was shocked to see Data with his half human face saying “resistance is futile”. I never wanted to see a movie so much after that.
I like that in the theatrical release, you get to see the Admirals ship being destroyed. Don't know why they left it out of the DVD....but hey, at least I got to see it!
Funny how the first 30 seconds was actually explained in Picard S3 with Picard's and Jack's brain electromagnetic transmitter and receiver being Borg DNA.
2063... Not too long now guys... only 42 years before we see the enterprise for the first time ;-) (and god help us if the borg, or something similar, is real...)
Elon is working hard to make it possible. Mere days ago scientists has just eliminated the need for the negative energy that would otherwise be needed to power the Alcubierre drive. Given the ever-accelerating speed at which discoveries are being made now, I'm confident I'll at least see a warp drive prototype in my time.
The borg queen (first of all there is a QUEEN? total revelation) has her head and brain stem just inserted into the rest of the body...Freaky Kewl! best Sci-Fi scene EVA!

One wk before my bday. 😂. Remember this movie being so hyped and rightly so
I’ve loved this movie since I was 12 years old. Simply timeless

It's in my top 10 list of all time greats.
Me too
Redlettermedias review of this is epic. Still like the lazy writing movie!
@@JustAMindlessDrone that guy’s voice really bothers me. I could only last a couple minutes
I love that Zefram Cochrane himself references the name Star Trek
So you're all astronauts on, some kind of Star Trek!
I love that Worf/Picard stand off. 1:29
After Picard calls him a coward. Worf: “If you were any other man, I would kill you where you stand.” He respected Picard so much that he was able to restrain himself.
And Picard respected Worf so much that he didn't throw him into the brigg after that threat lol.
@@kendallrivers1119 Lol, very true!

"We have not lost the Enterprise, we're not going to lose the Enterprise, not to the Borg, not whilst I'm in Command!" Badass.
Best Trek movie of all. Great story, great visuals and introduction of my all time favorite Enterprise
The "E" was the Sportscar of enterprises, sleek as hell!

It was. It really was.
hehe i was!!!
you have a very low standard for trek.
@@kohsty Oh? What would you consider high standard when it comes to Star Trek?
I was 12 and saw it with one of my friends and my two uncles. It really was something else
I like it how they incorporated musical elements from previous star trek films (TMP, WoK, UC and Gen.)
James Horners score for wrath of khan is just incredible
@@maverick916x RIP James Horner

First Contact is arguably the greatest movie in the Star Trek franchise.
Star Trek 2 & 6.
Star Trek 4 made more money than 2 or 6.
@@troyterry6919 Money equals quality??
@@LukeLovesRose not always but more people did apparently like #4.
@@troyterry6919 Star Trek VI was affected by the failure of the V.
Still my favorite Trek ever.
I loved when Data said "Resistance is Futile" then he destroyed the coolant tank!

the 90s were a magical time
I’ve watched this movie many times. It never gets old. It’s a great TNG Movie
Fist Contact was an absolute blast to watch in the theatre.
Agreed. It was fantastic
@Shane Howard Nah. It's plenty good enough.
Hell yeah I did it yesterday at Alamo drafthouse

This trailer is full of one liners... I love it!
I watched this in theatre as a teenager and later went back home and kept repeating the line "Assimilate THIS!" to my family for an entire week.
the line must be drawn CHCHCHEAAAH! God I love patrick stewart

The second best Star Trek movie behind The Wrath of Khan.
Even used some of the same music in the preview

In 1996, Resistance is Futile.

Ever notice how this parallels Dante’s “Divine Comedy” in a lot of ways?

TNG's shining cinematic moment.
I love this movie, first time we got to see the Borg with a proper make up department budget.

There's another ship coming in. It's… The Enterprise.

2063...

A pity about that third world war in between 😥
They said that 65 Million died in WW3, hopefully it was all of the conservatives. That’s how we get to the Star Trek future.
No they said 600 million

I always loved that they played “V-Gers” theme during the beginning sequence.

I am so psyched about this movie.
I wonder who the female Borg is...
