Bro I’ve had a 9ah flex volt battery in my cupboard for years got pissed because it wasn’t charging I’d had it about 2 months never got around to returning it to Dewalt. I just watched this by chance and the battery is now working 😂 you’re a legend

Neuses #3-316 Contact cleaning tool might help on the battery contacts as well. Also, CRC QD electronic cleaner spray is a good thing to use when cleaning the contacts.

My partner has a lot of tools, so when he needed a circular saw, I ordered this one for him as a Christmas gift. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxYDKeIjKLOfcwTgdin7TtCutsz4MbIc43 He is incredibly happy with the purchase. He stated that he likes that it is powerful, but still easy to use and cuts very well. He mentioned that it is important to know the right tools for the job at hand, and this compact saw has been exactly what he needed for a variety of projects at his rental properties and renovations. He also appreciates the battery packs, as stated, he owns a lot of DEWALT tools, so he is able to always keep batteries charged as needed.

Great info! I have a 60v Flex Volt that would charge for about 20 seconds, then the charger would indicate charge complete. I couldn't get to the three smaller contacts, so I did something a little extra. Try this: Open up the battery (8 Torx screws, pull the side shrouds off, top shroud is then free to come off) and expose the contacts and controller board. Get some kind of electrical parts cleaner (I used MAF cleaner from Autozone, but electrical connector cleaner or dry cleaning solvent works, as well) and, holding the battery upside down, blast the contacts clean. Don't let the cleaning solvent get in the cells!!! Blow it out with compressed air, then let it air dry for a few minutes, reassemble it, and you'll likely be back in business. Worked for me. Great vid!

    Right on dude
    Works perfectly now
I also put rubbing alcohol onto the grooves on the underside of the red cap, let it sit there then rubbed it back and forth. Then back to the sandpaper...
    Thanks much

DANG CUZ!! You had that thang toe up...fixed her with the sandpaper tho!
Now that’s a footnote worth jotting down!
    But for rizzles....
One of mine is doing that exact same thing & im bout to try your method. 🤞🏻
I have four, same as those (60V) and then there’s another battery that had, or has I should say, a similar issue, starting a year or so ago. I cleaned the contacts etc. more or less, same as you did, but to no avail.
The only thing that works to get this one fully charged, is I have to slide it fully into the charger. And as soon as I lock the batt. in, I have to turn the charger & batt. now locked together as one unit, and not unlike two dogs piggyback riding one another, and I have to turn/roll the charger forward, 90°onto its face, so that the end of the batt. that’s opposite of the end w/pwr gauge button, will be flat against & touching the floor when it’s where it needs to be. Really simple actually & I hope that’s easy to follow for someone maybe exp. the same deal. If not, ask me & I’ll hopefully see the notif. quickly afterwards & respond. I may just make a quick video, now that I think about it. It will not charge any other way. It will for about 30 seconds & then it indicates that it’s fully charged but has only one bar, or whatever. Cheers!

Had thrown (set aside) about 12 batteries in our company.. went back through them and cleaned the battery connectors and only 1 of them was bad lol.....i personally use brake cleaner, hold it upside down and spray across the prongs in the opposite direction that you would actually insert it into a charger typically. and if I feel reallllllly crazy, i actually just take the covers off them !

i bought the 60v trimmer in october of 2019. used it until i put it away in early december. did not use it at all until a month ago i pulled it out and checked the pack. showed 1 bar charge. charger refused to charge it. the (smart) circuitry inside will not allow the charger to charge the pack. using a variable benchtop power supply i charged the pack to full charge again. all cells are in range, and still balanced voltage but still the charger will not accept the battery. It is the software built into the battery. I am trying to find a way to reset or reprogram the pack... dewalt is sending me a replacement battery, but i would like to make the old one useable also if possible. i cant seem to find a schematic or diagram of the dewalt battery.

  • @RichardPerigo

Did not work for mine. Because it was not a battery issue.
Turns out that these packs have a "fusible link" inside. Mine burned in two. Apparently, it got very hot and melted the inside plastic as well! Can't find any video to show this. Looking for a replacement has turned up nothing.

@@Mr_big_foot Dewalt told me it was my saw. Since it is also under warranty I took it to an authorized dealer and they sent it off to be rebuilt. We will see if it still "pops" the fusible link when it returns

    • @Mr_big_foot
      @Mr_big_foot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@AdrianRodriguez-zi4ot . I bought my battery used from eBay. I took it apart to figure out why it wouldn’t work with my 60v max tools and then I realized it was because the fuse link burnt up and was no longer fused together. Well I soldered it back together and it fixed my problem. Hasn’t failed me yet.

Almost worked for my 60V, it started to charge again then stopped. Haven't been able to get it going again. Probably just need to work at it some more, but I've got a project to finish so I'll revisit this later 🤣. Wierd that it's only my 60V and they're all stored together 😔
