My grandpa has a red and white '74 Satellite Roadrunner, he fell in love with it while visiting my dad in college in Boston. Now, he loves speeding down the roads and I LOVE working on it with him.

Ahhh too have a huge trunk like that during the toilet paper scare of 2020!
:))
Awesome car and awesome video. In my younger days I woukd have over looked something like this. I like how you cover the personal history between the vehicle and tje owners, quite fascinating.
From a hobbyist modeler (cars) perspective there's a lot of info too. Especially for something non-traditional (rather than Hot Rods, Customs) we normally find on Google(?).
Maybe give a few detailed pics at then end of your vudeos?
Thank you and all the generous friendly folks who allow you to post their pride and joys on Utube.

What a beautiful Plymouth Satellite! One of my two, make that three favorite MOPARS! I used to see these ‘souped up’ by younger people in the later 70’s. They were so good looking stock or modified before they were drive into the ground.
High praise :-)
My buddy had a bright red 1973 Satellite Sebring Plus with a white Halo vinyl top and off-white bucket seat interior. This was back when we were in 10th and 11th grade (1976) and was our daily ride to school. Had a 400 4 Barrel with automatic console on the floor. The car was so fast and so much fun. Was a one wheel Wonder I remember numerous times when my buddy would floor it that wheel spun for two blocks or until his foot left the gas petal. Great memories🚘
Hi Andy Danko, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Makes me miss the 74 road runner I had. Thanks for featuring some everyday cars
Hi FUNAR Model Yard, Glad you enjoy this one and happy to read it brings back memories of yours :-) Lou
What a great example! I agree with the other commenters that this is a rolling museum. Very cool!
Thanks Lou!
Hi Jeff, A rare condition for the 1974 Satellite.....if you can find one today. Thank you for viewing and you're welcome, Lou
I swear, that side elevation frames a beautiful "coupe", despite the car's scale. Gold is such a glorious seventies hue...who can do without it. Another superb spectacle Lou, many thanks again.
Hi John Fisher, Glad you think this one is "superb spectacle" :-) You're comment makes me smile, thank you for that, and you're welcome, Lou
Not just a time capsule, this car is a rolling museum, a mobile Plymouth showroom and a time machine. Lastly, it is a reminder that you used to be able to buy exactly the car you wanted to buy.
Glad you enjoy this "time capsule" :-)
I'm not surprised at all. Back before manufacturers put all their faith in falsehoods, replacement this or that long before its time was up. Built-in obsolescence is the mire of all commodity. What was real...was robust...was preservable.
I saw the thumbnail for this video and just had to watch! My family had a 1973 Sebring Plus that we bought new in September 1973. Ours was Lemon Twist (yellow) with a black vinyl top and black interior and the 318. Despite the oil embargo we did take a trip in it to visit relatives in Delaware that Thanksgiving. It served us very well until 1981 when a drunk driver plowed head on into it. My father was at the wheel and I was up front with him. Thankfully it had a nice long hood and we were both wearing our seat belts! Sad that I never got a chance to drive it.
But I am happy to see this one so well preserved and cared for. You always manage to find so many uncommon cars to talk about. Thanks again, Lou!
Hi iswc27, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Families car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
This 1974 and 1973 model years were one of my favorites. Being said the 1972 was my ultimate favorite. But this car is just awesome they are so proud of it and I know that it is a family member. I so remember this color too. I love the color of the vinyl top as well. Just a nice pristine auto and the literature in his trunk is outstanding! Another great car Lou and thanks for sharing!
Hi Steve Flad, I'think your comment is right on, as we both clearly enjoy the details :-) Thank you for coming along on the ride, and you're welcome, Lou
my uncle used to have one identical to this one, 318 engine two barrel carb, good power, good fuel economy for the time. got to drive it for a few years as a teenager. Would love to buy one now.
Hi David Marquez, Happy to read this car / video brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Lou
Most people don't keep their cars this long, glad to see this couple did. Everyone thinks they always need a new car these days especially when new model years come out.

SIXTEEN paint colors to choose 5:15 from and 9 interior shades of fabric plus a selection of vinyl seat colors as well . Those were the days!
Good times, good times :-)
glad even this cars are taken care of and preserved for the future generation to enjoy....this car a cream puff....what a true time capsule of information...
Thanks, Lou for this video on the 1974 Plymouth Satellite Seabring Plus. This is a fully functional luxury muscle car classic. The engine sounds factory new. Superb quality and durability ! Congratulations to the owners of this great car.
Hi Juan, Happy to read the details you enjoy with this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
A very underestimated car. The 318 could achieve better fuel economy than the slant six (as great as it was) while making more power at similar weight, and could be coaxed up to 300hp easily. This body style is also one of their last good designs. A very nice combination.
Hi 20alphabet, Glad you enjoy the cars design on this one :-) Thank you for sharing the details on why you enjoy the 318 in this one too, Lou
Roadkill garage have a 318 that's making over 400hp with headers and carbs.
NICE :-)
Andrew Samy They used to use the 360 heads with higher compression piston, then tune from there. But now the hot tip is to use the "fast burn" heads from the 1980s with the heart-shaped combustion chamber and a bowl job. 400 from the crank with good fuel economy is not impossible.
20alphabet, "Better fuel economy than a Slant Six," please explain how that was possible.
Hi Lou! How are you? Great car! Car of the sunset era Muscle cars. In gold, nice! Thank you Lou, for showing this car!
Hi Good Russian, I'm good :-) How are you? "Sunset era in gold" Agreed - nice! Thank you for viewing, and you're welcome, Lou
I'm fine. Thanks! and thank you Lu, for your interesting "My Car Story"!
Glad you're fine, and it's my pleasure.
She drove a Plymouth Satellite faster then the speed of light!
Nice :-)
Pretty mundane car but I can appreciate that fact that it is absolutely pristine. They’re only original once and this is a fine example. Another great find, Lou!
HI Kris Bierman, A comment that is exactly the way I feel about this car. Original with under 27000 miles, amazing :-) Lou
Love it! All the colors, interior trims, and options available back then, plus you can have them in a big coupe! I wish it were still this way today. Thanks for sharing this one, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
What a nice car. It doesn't get more original than this. The style reminds me of the Cordoba which was introduced in 1975 I believe. If you didn't treat these cars with Ziebart they rusted out pretty quickly in the Northern climates so finding an original in this condition in Illinois is unthinkable but once again Lou finds them for us to enjoy.
Hi Rich, Happy to share the cars I find with you. Thank you for sharing a comment. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
A neighbor of ours growing up had a blue one. I always they looked great. Very simple and clean.
Hi michael tipton, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbors car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
WHat a Time Capsule is Right. I felt like I was 12 years old again. Of course I never seen one as clean as this being in the North East all my life. But Now I know what they look liked at the dealership.
Well said gene978 :-)
I’m re watching some of the My Car Story classic episodes and you are right- it’s like looking at one from the day it arrived at the dealership.
1974 Satellite

Wow, What an amazing car with only 26K on it. Great video once again Lou
Glad you enjoy the story on this one Mike Lunn, a nice find for sure :-)
Very nice Plymouth, lovely classic style, smooth lines, and love the brighter gold stripe along it. Really adds just enough flash to the kinda honey gold color. Pretty seats, nice and soft and comfy looking. Neat treats, always fun to look through. Nice sound and good strong rev. Fun vid and thanks.
Hi wickedfirefly13, Happy to read you enjoy this Plymouth. Enjoy reading the details you see :-) You're welcome, Lou

Wow this is a car you really don't see anymore. Special to my heart as I was born in 1974! Lol. The Sebring plus is very rare. Luxury at its best on the Satelitte platform. To see the rare Halo vinyl roof and Tahitian brown is just awesome. Absolutely great find Lou!
Hi Kenneth White, Nice to see this birth year car for sure :-) As I enjoy a car shows I do my best to find a story I think you'll enjoy. Glad this one is a Winner for you. Lou
I had a triple black '73 with the standard 400.No positraction but a great looking auto.

Hey Lou. Lovely looking 1974 Plymouth Satellite Sebring +. I still see these every now and then. I love the condition of this car. I could be wrong, but it looks like an original survivor, or a nicely restored car. :)
It's in original condition, says the owner in the video.
Hi Jason, Yes, this one is in original condition. Lou
@@loucostabile I've always loved original survivors. :)
Sebring A Plus for sure!
NICE :-)
That looks like my car when I was 17. Cold natured, drank gas like there was no tomorrow. But I loved that car.
Hi Robin Alford, Happy to read this car / video brings back memories of the car you had when you're 17 :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and I hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy, Lou
What a beautiful car.
Glad you enjoy the looks of this one :-)
Wow that’s stunning
Glad you enjoy this one Stuart oliver :-)
emission era cars need morel ove, thank you sir
When they are original and have less then 27K on the odometer, and I can see them, you're going to see them as I share them :-) You're welcome.
Hey Lou, I don't believe these wheel covers are the deluxe wheel covers.
My friend had 1973 Satellite Sebring Plus with the 400 cubic inch V8 with unusual factory wheel covers that had many grooves that came to a sharp point at the center of the wheel.
They sparked and shined like a diamond when he drove it in bright sunlight.
Never saw them again on another Satellite Sebring Plus.
Maybe they were a special order.
Hey ROBERT, Clearly your Friend had some cool wheel covers, so you might be right, maybe special order, Lou
@gtpcruiser02, I had the same wheel covers you speak of on my 1974 Satellite Sebring Plus. The ones your friend had were called Premier Wheel covers. The ones on this ‘74 were actually called Deluxe Wheel covers. That was Chrysler’s description as a marketing tool 😃, but these on this example of a true survivor were the standard wheel covers.
The Premier Wheel covers were literally a few bucks more in 1974 money. Maybe like $20-$40 more for a set of four all the way around from the factory.
The documentation in the trunk was amazing! I wonder how he acquired all those binders.
I agree, there are lots of treats in this trunk.
Up until 1971, the Satellite was the "sporty" Belvedere...when the Satellite nameplate replaced Belvedere in '71, the "Satellite Sebring Plus" version filled that niche.
Hi Keith Coppage, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Actually, there was another version of the Satellite, the Sport Satellite, from 1968 to 1970. The Sport Satellite was the highest level of the workaday Satellites before you went into performance car territory with the Road Runner and GTX. The mid-size Plymouth line read this way: Belvedere, Satellite, Sport Satellite, Road Runner, GTX - from 1968 to '70. With the restyled '71 models, the order changed to: Satellite, Satellite Custom (sedan), Satellite Sebring (two-door), Satellite Brougham sedan and Sebring Plus two-door hardtop, and Road Runner, and GTX. For the station wagons, it was (from bottom to top) Satellite, Satellite Custom, and Satellite Regent. The convertibles were discontinued for 1971.
I had that exact same car in the late 80’s, down to the color !
Glad to read this video brings back memories of your former car :-)
It actually reminds me of sitting so low I could barely see over the dash, and going through the ditch, wondering how I made it back on the road, lol ! The interior was like a sunken living room.
You're right, Not seeing and feeling like you're on top of the road like a current SUV or a Porsche 911 that's for sure.
For some reason, the seats sat super low. It’s not that any other thing was to tall, but you rode like a low rider in it, lol ! People would tell me they couldn’t tell anyone was driving. I may only be 5’8”, but I’ve never had that happen in any other older vehicle, accept for maybe the vette. Otherwise it was a normal 70’s mopar.
the charm of the channel. my great uncle dick sheehan had the same color combo in a 74 satellite sebring in san francisco when i was attending saint ignatius. the plus with the 318 was very fuel conscious after the first embargo of 1972. and had some smog control equipment, that often was yanked to get moderately dependable american products to actually RUN when needed..
Sounds like good memories of Uncle Dick's cool car :-)
My cousin had a blue 74 satellite Sebring plus the only difference is that they added duel exhaust fun cool car just like yours
Hi Ron Sussex, Glad this one brings back memories of your Cousins car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Nice, nice Plymouth...
Hi Edward Young, Happy to read you enjoy this Plymouth :-) Lou
He must've gotten a lot of that literature from a dealer salesman. I remember when 1 of our Chrysler dealers closed here in the early 90s, they were throwing out these old binders by the bucket load. I wished I would've grabbed a couple. Neat car!
Hi Adam Trombino, I'm delighted when they have all those brochures too as I shares facts of what the Dealers were offering. Glad you think this one is "neat" :-) Lou
I had a 71 Sebring plus 318 dark blue black vinyl top white leather interior I loved it bought it in late 86 for $400 bucks interior looked new fenders obviously was shot I believe some are cloning these Sebring's as GTX clones

Good one lou. Nice to see the original beneficiaries to this Plymouth Sebring.
Those almost identical wheel trims were seen on the Chrysler Valiant Regal here in Australia in those years. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Valiant_(VJ)#/media/File:Chrysler_Valiant_Regal_Sedan_(VJ).jpg
The 1973 "Oil Crisis" was a monumental scam.
Hi Professor Pat Pending, Fun to hear from the Original Owners on "Why your car?" :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
she came from planet clair
I know she came from there
she drove a plymouth satellite
faster than the speed of light
Damn! - you beat me to it - anyway props for the top comment ....the backing vocals on that track are definitely from a different planet
an update on the Peter Gunn theme. He drove some cool Chrysler's.
Planet Clare hs three suns, all the trees are red, no-one ever dies there, no-one has a head!
Nice :-)

Ours had designd stich interior that came with it
Thank you for sharing.
What was the difference between the Sebring and the Sebring Plus?
The +
I had that exact car in a 73 year. The bucket seats sit way low !
Sounds like a memorable car 67 cuda :-) Glad this one reminds you of yours, Lou
Thanks, it brings back memories ! My 67 barracuda formula S actually only has 53,000 miles on it's bright red, triple black center stripes, dealer painted self. It's also a 4 speed, with bucket seats in it's black interior . All stock, never wrecked.
Sounds like a great car :-)
My dad had that car same color
Nice :-)
This what I like to Call the End of the Muscle and or performance car ERA and the start of the personal Luxury car era Arguably I wonder if it was such in great shape since he took care of it and maybe with the Gas Crisis going on he drove it not to much even with a 318 other then that Nice to see these post 1971-1974 mopars my dad had a 1973 Dodge charger and it would be a sight to see with post 1971 muscle cars not being to popular compared to there 1960s Ancestors.
Hi charger master, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this TH-cam Channel, Lou
No hate intended, but to me it cheapens a car to add a strap-on tachometer ESPECIALLY when the car has a 318 and is not meant for racing...
Hi TheSpritz0, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts, Lou
The '73 & '74 Satelites and Roadrunners looked good. Better than the '71/'72...
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
caption caption caption a lot of us of all ages are hard of hearing or deaf caption please want to hear the specs. thank you i'm a new subscriber C😎😎L
Hi Cole Webb, Not sure how that works....I'll check to see if I can do that. Welcome to the Channel :-) Lou
something different from downunder. 540ci Chrysler Valiant station wagon
www.whichcar.com.au/features/1970-chrysler-vg-valiant-wagon-540-cube-big-block
Our wagons had five doors. Gave the feel of a four door sedan rather than your two door coupe look wagons.
Thank you for viewing & sharing.
Nice cae. Too bad that era was not the best.
Hi g mat, Agreed a nice car, and the "original condition" is amazing :-) Lou
can i buy it
Not aware of this car being for sale.
whats so special about this? it looks like your running out of subject matter!
1) Original owner from 1974 2) under 30K original miles 3) "dealer documentation" in the trunk. There are 3 reasons.
