This band was amazing, to say the least and Francis Dunnery should be ranked among the most talented and skilled guitarists around, no kidding; he's a monster!
Frankie, Dick, John & Bob where phenomenal. Anazing that 4 muso's could create such a wide array of sounds. I saw them numerous times - a real tour de force!
I've followed this band since their debut album. Incredible live act. Hearing them perform Old Man & the Angel live, ranks as one of my best and most memourable live music experiences.
I WANT A TAP BOARD GUITAR!!! What an incredible invention! Francis Dunnery- one of my guitar and song writing heros of all time. Thanks for posting this video compilation. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!
Playing a kid's show like "The Saturday Morning Picture Show," is a complete waste of their talent in my view. The kids there couldn't possibly appreciate their brilliance.
I saw them in the Marquee Club in London mid 80's. And in the T&C. They were excellent ... and boy did they know it .... I found them to be an inspiring band great melodies .. each of the 4 were very proficient and as a band they were solid and tight. They had a fantastic following .... why wasn't it reflected in sales and exposure??? I was in awe of them ...... They were the dogs 'dangly-bits' without doubt.....
Don't know what it was called, but in the late night programme back in the 80s Stuart Maconie was talking to various people who played unusual instruments, one of my mates just happened to record it.
I first heard this band with 'Calling all the heroes' back in 1986 , I then bought 'The big lad in the windmill' album - A fascinating band that was and still is unique in it's style, being pigeonholed as 'Progressive pop'. Absolutely love them! So much better than the horrid garbage shoved down your throats these days!
Same year had discovered them, when a radio station (K.F.O.G.) in San Francisco played "You'll Never Go To Heaven" from Big Lad in the Windmill. Bought that LP a week later.
I was lucky enough to have supported them back in the day . Watching them from side of the stage was a massive buzz Cause they were one of my fav bands at the time . Frank was a one off best front man Ever Funny as fk also
Thanks so much for your music guys I got turn on to you with the album Once around the world, since which I've tried to find your music where ever I could find it. I do think your original line-up should reform and give your army of loyal fans the fantastic music we all love so much.Get back together, thats an order and it wouldn't bite at all. My fave live show is Tokyo '89. Once again thanks.
Their record company put them forward to appear on a kids TV show and the production company thought "yeah we'll have It Bites on our show". Well they had to start somewhere to get their big break right?
Shame bits are out of sync but.....at least they looked like they enjoyed playing ..someone says they were good and they knew it..nothing wrong with that as long as they proved it..I loved Nick Kershaws changes but It Bites were full of em..I had a dx mk1...great machine, but this one sounds amazing, programming of course..plug in cartridges too..
Hi Keith, sorry about the out of sync', I transferred these old clips from VHS to digital and for some reason a few areas went out a bit, still nice to look back though, back in the day t It Bites were one of the tightest bands I've ever seen with crystal clear live sound.
@@BUZZELLIOTT Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it thanks, no calling out the heroes but the over all sound great...have you seem the pub unplugged version..looks like the keys player but guitarist with short dark hair..its on the menu for the song..says it bites but the singer guitarist is younger..so I`m guessing as there was no info it WAS the keysman on just the Roland on piano..but they DO calling..bit mucking about but its there, playing the bass line with his left hand AND the solo too..impressive SO THANKS for that. the live Tokyo concert is good, long hair but they STILL enjoyed themselves..
Never saw them until 2010 at the sage gateshead never been so peed off at a gig. The band cone on wearing weird suits and no calling all the heros or kiss like judas, 2 tunes that got me into the band. Thank the lord a year later at a gig in manchester they opened up with cath and next was kiss like judas followed by some new material that was not too long. Pity the band are on a long hiatus. Getting there recent live boxset has got my intrest in them going again
Great band , Went to see them at Preston Guild Hall in 87 and the ticket sales where so low there was a stage set up in bar room area where you have a drink or 3 before you go into the Hall itself , There can't have been more than 300 folk there...sad really as they did a brilliant gig,
Seems an important part of the dedicated followers of this truly underrated band were kiddies :0) Very catchy tunes, a tight formation, nice close harmonies, and a frontman with a very specific "hook" in his vocals, giving the band a seperate sound. Too bad the sales were but so so.
The tap board segment was from a meet and greet francis done while they were recording eat me in st Louis I have had the full meet on disc dvd for a while now along with countless gigs tv promo's etc love this band so underated awesome muscians.........
they are all very good .. Francis is special .. these English atmospheres are beautiful .. too bad the movie is out of sync .. Bob Dalton plays the snare drum and feels late
This band was amazing, to say the least and Francis Dunnery should be ranked among the most talented and skilled guitarists around, no kidding; he's a monster!
@ Alex Piva,Sister Sarah has an immense guitar solo imo

Such a good song. My favorite song of theirs live was screaming on the beaches. When the crowd sings along it’s amazing.
Been a fan since 86 & still am to this day 😎😎
Excellent compilation, brings back so many memories. I was at the Meltdown show...wow, glad it's still out there somewhere on TH-cam
Excellent footage!! And rare... First time than I see this from 1986. THANKS!!!
Seen them Live 3 or 4 Times , This takes me Back 30+ Years.
I have seen everyone from Tom Jones to Frank Zappa.. watched these in pontypridd poly at this time , one of the best live bands EVER
I WANT A TAP BOARD GUITAR!!! What an incredible invention! Francis Dunnery- one of my guitar and song writing heros of all time. Thanks for posting this video compilation. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!
Excellent. Justice was done when these four got into the industry.
The record company put them on kids TV programmes. What the fuck were they thinking?
One of my favorite bands

magnificent stuff, looking back they were bloody great!!
I remember seeing them on Look North like it was yesterday. It was the first I'd heard of them. Probably 1986.
Very enjoyable memories. Thank you.
Thanks for uploading. What a band they were. Tight, or what?
When Frank was normal, now a full blown conspiracy nut.
Very underrated musicians and players speciallly Francis
great find, cheers buzz
what was the programme with the tapboard?
Thank you for sharing ❤️
Playing a kid's show like "The Saturday Morning Picture Show," is a complete waste of their talent in my view. The kids there couldn't possibly appreciate their brilliance.
Correct 👍

This was the wrong time for a prog rock band ...fifteen years too late.
@@zazz63Hang on a second. Marillion were doing it with Fish 1981 to 1988!
That went straight over the young audiences heads.
Great upload.... Thanks ;-)

Changing their style after every album didn't help.

Cool! They were one of those "special" and stand out bands: as was Frank! Lucky u to support them!

who's playing bass on TOTPs?
Did It Bites ever play Alton Towers...performing on a crane/lift?
Anyone else remember seeing them play a song at Alton Towers for some kids TV show?
That apparently did happen, a friend of mine at the time said he watched it, would have been around 87/88.
Great compilation - if you want me to fix sync issues give me a shout!
Al the kids are like damm were in a musical maths class ..😅
Magic!
Brilliant Buzz!
Dunnery's had more hair styles than David Beckham!
Best band in the world
Great band ,,fon memories of LEEDS WAREHOUSE 87 ISH
Who booked them for a kids TV programme FFS? WTF??!!
Their record company put them forward to appear on a kids TV show and the production company thought "yeah we'll have It Bites on our show". Well they had to start somewhere to get their big break right?
solo in calling is bonkers....could have been the new alan h if he hadn't got down the beer and mystery lane
Mystery?

Goodness me what a fantastic band they were....are? The new stuff without the great FD still sounds pretty good to me.

They’re Cumbrian like myself
Fuck me All in Red has aged even worse than Frank!
That All In Red is awful.
Yogi haughton no it isn't!!
Paul Cavanagh Subjective
It's one of their weaker tunes, but not awful by any stretch.
