  • This is our bus that is used for our homeschool, and outreach projects. It's been parked for about a year because we couldn't find workers to help us fix it, and I don't trust myself to do as good of a job as is needed. These buses are very common here in Indonesia.
We've had this bus for a few years, but due to a lack of funds and professionals willing to work at our location, we haven't made much progress on it. We want to remove all the bad rusty metal and replace it with stronger steel. We envision this but to play a multipurpose role, carrying our students and team, moving cargo--especially helping local farmers sell at better prices, transporting the sick and injured, traveling, holding mobile seminars, etc. We'd like to carry emergency medical equipment, tools for vehicle rescue and entrapment, firefighting equipment, and some mechanic tools.
I've mostly gutted the interior, mostly strengthened the body of the frame, will install a roof rack, awning, solar panels, relocate the air intake to the top of the bus with a scoop to bring in cooler cleaner air. Also I want to relocate the air intake in order to be able to cross flooded areas during emergencies without flooding my engine.
If I can get enough money and government approval, I'd like to install dualies (a single axel in the back with four wheels instead of two) so that I can have more traction.
Another long term goal is to have property where we can have our own mechanic and welding/fabrication shop in order for young people to learn this trade and learn creativity, and a professional skill. I also like fixing things.
Hopefully we'll get enough funding to keep the progress on this bus going.
It also represents our Seven Stars Academy/Yayasan Akademi Tujuh Bintang.
