    Preservative is very important and ensuring the PH of your product matches that of the preservative is also an important factor. Thanks a lot Belinda. I love your channel.

    This is so helpful. I remember the time I used tocopherol acetate in my oil serum with tons of easily-oxidized oils like hemp and grapeseed thinking it would provide protection, the whole thing went rancid in less than 1 month.
    Thank you Belinda!

    I always have a problem in choosing the type of preservative and antioxidant, so may you make video for each one separately but more detailed.

    So very enlightening, thanks.
    You talked about blending of EWax, can one also use/blend like two different preservative in a single product to ensure it from getting mold.
    I did a cream using liquid Germal plus and it develop mold in 6 days.

      Thanks for watching. No, don’t over preserve your formula, they can be irritants when used in excess. If you are finding good preservatives aren’t working sufficiently, there may be other issues with the formula, or you may not be using the right amount specific to each preservative (they all have different input rates at which they work best) or you may be using the wrong pH, or putting the preservative in an incompatible environment. Thabk you for the video, it is so resourceful. I have a question. How to search for the in vivo efficacy of actives? I have searched on internet and couldnt find out

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to contact the supplier of the materials directly for their in vivo efficacy data, as it is information they will provide to businesses only (because it often talks about how the ingredients work, which is often not suitable for cosmetic claims to consumers so they can only provide this information to businesses, not publicly available for consumers). Please contact your suppliers directly. Happy formulating!

    Thank you so much! This was so useful indeed. I have another question, I used emulsifying wax instead of beeswax for my oil based cream. When it curdled I added some beeswax. Due to these 2 combinations the cream is not as slippery as it should be. What should I do to undo this? My cream has oils and aloe Vera gel and Shea butter.
    Thank you once again for your support.

      You can't undo this once you've tried to emulsify. You will have to start again and use a proper combination of emulsifiers. This is a large topic so IPCS recommends you take the course so you can understand how to make this properly.

    Which ingredients can cause stickiness in my moisturizers? I suspect Laureth-4 (or Glycerin above 1%) but am not certain at all.
    Here is the ingredient list of one product that I find extremely heavy/sticky: Water, cyclopentasiloxane, glycerin, safflower (carthamus tinctorius) oleosomes, dimethicone crosspolymer, PEG-8/SMDI copolymer, butylene glycol, hydrolyzed algin, betaine, ergothioneine, arabidopsis extract, laminaria digitata extract, sea whip (pseudopterogorgia elizabethae) extract, aminoguanidine HCI, decarboxy carnosine HCI, peumus boldus leaf extract, polygonum cuspidatum root extract, piptadenia colubrina peel extract, lecithin, folic acid, pentylene glycol, dimethicone, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate NP copolymer, xanthan gum, laureth-23, laureth-4, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin.
