Soft, warm and airy, dry, somber and melancholy, sweet, lush and dark. These adjectives fit either one of the three fragrances under scrutiny for today. They share so much and yet each has a distinctive personality. Serge Lutens' Chergui, Guerlain's Bois d'Arménie and Tauer's L'Air du désert marocain all play on contrasts like light and dark, camphor and warmth, sweet and somber while each of them managed to steal my heart individually.

Thank you! I guess we do it naturally whenever we smell something familiar

I like that you go deeper into the scent... you show its nuances and aspects 👍
Chergui is a beautiful fragrance.. I love the big trinity from Christopher Sheldrake: Chergui.. Santal Majuscule.. Ambre Sultan.

As commented on your papillon salome vid, do try Papillon Anubis, I tested both Chergui, ambre sultan and Anubis side by side. And anubis for me was very very well done. Chergui is still very nice, i was considering buying a full bottle, but now will get Anubis because it smells sooo good! Try it definitely try it. Btw I would love to get a perfume that smells like my bbq, that sweet smoke scent is very addicting to me. Havent found one yet...

Beautiful descriptions that make me want to re smell these, actually wore bois d’armenie recently and found it a bit faint not sure if due to reformulation. ❤

That’s interesting, Bois d’Armenie was never the strongest of scents, but no slouch either

Bois d’Armenie is one of my favourite fragrances in general and at Guerlain in particular. I probably like it even more than Angelique Noir but probably on par with Shalimar Initial and Samsara

Even if I always found it beautiful, it took me a while to understand it. I smelling Chergui really helped!
