Personally I LOVE Spike's "feeling like a princess" line and the fact it WASN'T treated as a joke or weird or wrong by anyone in the episode (or, surprisingly, that many fans, from what i've seen). That's my favourite part of the whole ep. I like to imagine some little boy watching this on TV who likes "girly" things and feels bad for it or gets made fun of, and then hearing that line and seeing Twi's reaction to it and feeling better.
fizzycolalizzie I agree, it is also a second moral in there, namely that the life of a princess ... at least an Equestrian one ... includes pretty hard decisions, and even hard work, and not just pleasurable life and people that always listens to you.

In Equestria, being like a princess means being in the highest possible position of power and respect, but otherwise it just tends to be used to mean spoiled and naive.

In general, no matter what kind of rulers one has, they'd better know what they are doing, and take responsibility for their decisions. I recently watched Mr Enters review of G3 "Princess Promenade", and this episode is actually a kind of nod to that ... and of course this shows a far better form of "princesshood" than that ... thing. Wall of text-warning. Thinking of it, "Princess Promenade" do has some subversion of being a princess, like "a princess has no friends", and that the one named "princess" actually feels lonely, and starts feeling better once she actually defies the "rules of princesshood" and _makes some actual work_ . (The shallow reason for the pony to be a princess may also be seen as a criticism of princesshood (She touched a certain plant.), but I think it didn't get through the exaggerated sugarcoating of the whole thing.) ......... But then the story goes awkward and she decrees that all other ponies are princesses too. Including G3 Spike, who originally was the one to say she was a princess, laid out the "rules" for it, and even said (or sang?) "Everyone wants to be a princess, even me.".
RubberyCat That's the thing: in this episode there was too many morals for it to hold water (no pun intended but still funny ;J). Too many goals towards which the plot line comes, means a storyline mess. And that might be one reason why this episode is not very liked by many viewers. It's almost like the writers couldn't decide what they want to show.
Bon Bon I think the morals were quite good once I had gotten past the presence of the slow-moving train wreck. What is truly annoying, is that the really bad that happened, was set up while Spike still was caring about Twilight getting her sleep.
i think its because how he's being written. Spike is mostly written as the greedy guy when we've already seen that done too much. It makes him look like a bad character if they keep that up. I think we just need to see Spike as a character who CAN find the solutions more often, like in Inspiration Manifestation. Being someone who's an assistant for Twilight makes him look to be the kind of guy to turn to for advice. Assisting for duty and also assisting for the sake of his friend's happiness
A lot of others seem to dislike it because Spike actually did not have seen to grown in character at all. Personally, I found it cringeworthy as heck, and I had to skip forward to see the rest, as it was obvious that the watermain would burst. Watching your reaction was the second time I could watch it in its entirety.
Honesly I thought this episode was okay. Twilight's funny moments and thr addition of some new background ponies made up for some of it's flaws. And concerning Spike as a character - I would probably appreciate him more if he played a smaller role. I don't mind him, but sometimes it seems he is getting in the way a bit.
If I was to have an opinion on Spike, he's an okay character. I don't mind that he's a dragon, but he can be annoying sometimes. However, I realize that Spike is still a baby and he has a lot to learn. Maybe one day, he'll become wise and smart.

It was seeping through the concrete and forming a small pool. The PSA showed up, sprayed around it with orange spray paint to mark it, then returned. ...About a week later! By then, I was waiting for the concrete to break and pieces to go flying as Old Faithful made a new home. Thankfully, it didn't. But the water company sure took their sweet time getting to it. Also had a leak in the underground pipe on the PSA's side. They came up, looked at it, said it was on mine and it wasn't their problem. Got them to come back up again and recheck it. Sure enough, it WAS on their side. They didn't apologize, just fixed it and left.

What I was referring to was how some people, (not people on my channel now unless you count the few that left because they didn't like my character pairings) easily jump head-first into an argument without thinking things through rationally or just avoiding confrontation altogether. A good example is when someone makes a mention of MLP on a non MLP video, and then boom, the flood gates are opened. Like when Markiplier once did a video that had MLP on the TV in the background. He did it for kicks, not insulting the fandom nor saying he was brony, but just good fun. I enjoyed it, but the anti-bronies started coming in saying, "Hoo, I'm gonna unsubscribe because you referenced that show!" Yamimash also made a thumbnail with Pinkie Pie as he played a custom MLP-based version of a game. And that alone got arguments going between bronies and anti-bronies. I've seen arguments over the most stupidest of things on some channels that I love: SomeOrdinaryGamers, Nostalgia Critic, Markiplier, Yamimash, JackSepticEye, TheMysteriousMrEnter... That is what I was referring to. :P
Yeah. Can't say I disagree. Like the example you gave of MLP content on non-MLP channels. I get that a lot. Any time I make a comment on a non-MLP video it's always about the topic of that video, or a topic within the comment thread, never about MLP, but that doesn't stop people from using my MLP profile to make anti-brony comments. Most of the time, someone else (normally a non-Brony themselves) speaks up on my behalf.

Type B: Anti-bronies. And type C: People that really don't care either way. They're not fans of the show but they also don't agree with the hate fans get because of it. Having seen such incidents as you experienced, and having experienced it myself as well, along with other incidents, it's why I could see the angry mob bit as a sort of mental reference to some people on some comment sections.

EP 10 I don’t like this episode. I like the ideas and parts of the episode but overall I kind of despise it. I love the idea of an Equestria Summit/Convention because it would tell us more about other parts of Equestria. I think Twilight Sparkle is adorable in this episode. Shouldn't they have finished all the work that could disrupt the summit before it started. Cadence should have had a plan in place if ponies needed disputes settled since everyone was going to Twilight Sparkle. Also shouldn't all of the princesses been going to the meetings Twilight Sparkle had planned. Also Spike did let power go to his head but had good intentions and Twilight Sparkle wasn't in any shape to do anything. Also was Cadence just going to let the summit go to shit. Also Spike like the CMC has learned no to tempt fate it leads to Murphy's Law. Also I like that Cadence can create and control crystals. Okay Cadence what was Spike supposed to do about the flooding. I love Fancy Pants’s line about the angry mob. I love that Fancy Pants is the first to help Spike with the gem statue. I love that the episode ended right before Spike sneezed. I love the designs of the ponies in this episode especially the one wearing a sweater and glasses with braces. I think the main reason I really don't like this episode is because it has the lesson in every Spike episode except the good ones. I have to rate this a 6/10 because it shows how great the episode is that even a bad episode doesn't score below a 6 except for Mare-do Well.
Aren't ponies a beautiful species? Regular humans would NOT be that understanding about what happened. If it were real, spike would end up in a garbage bag, beaten with bats, in a garbage bin behind your local bar.
