"Song Of The Broad Axe"
Words by Walt Whitman
Music by Massimo Giuntoli
:::::::::::::::::
Welcome are all earth’s lands,
each for its kind,
Welcome are lands of pine and oak,
Welcome are lands of the lemon and fig,
Welcome are lands of gold,
Welcome are lands of wheat and maize -
welcome those of the grape,
Welcome are lands of sugar and rice,
Welcome the cotton-lands -
welcome those of the white potatoes and sweet potatoes,
Welcome are mountains, flats, sands, forests, prairies,
Welcome the rich borders of rivers, table-lands, openings,
Welcome the measureless grazing-lands -
welcome the teeming soil of orchards, flax, honey, hemp,
Welcome just as much the other more hard-faced lands,
Lands rich as lands of gold, or wheat and fruit lands,
Lands of mines, lands of the manly and rugged ores,
Lands of coal, copper, lead, tin, zinc,
LANDS OF IRON! Lands of the make of the axe!

Bello Massimo! La tua musica è sempre una piacevole sorpresa. Di gran classe. Un abbraccio
splendido, incantevole, ci trasporta in pura poesia, ci voleva!
Beautiful discovery of this symbolic poem by Walt Whitman. Thank you Massimo for your musical composition and your beautiful interpretation.
Grande Massimo!!

What an amazing coincidence. I just subscribed to your channel because of your performance of a Frank Zappa song, and now you have posted this interpretation of Whitman's great poem, which I wrote an entire chapter about in my first book, Collage of Myself. "Song of the Broad-Axe" is one of Whitman's most underrated poems, and it's great to see it interpreted in this way.
Wow, thank you, Matt, I'd like to know some more about your books. Could you send me some information...? Maybe a link...?
@@massimogiuntoli5753 I thought I replied to this, but now I don't see my message. Maybe I forgot to send it, but you can check out a full PDF of my book at the Walt Whitman Archive here the link below. Chapter Three is the one that deals with "Song of the Broad-Axe": whitmanarchive.org/media/data/whitman-criticism/source/pdf/anc.02120.pdf
