Yes there were many that recorded this classic hit. But NO one could come close to the original by Little Jimmy Dickens[ backed up by Walter Haynes steel guitar. In fact Buddy Emmons once said, that what Walter did was THE greatest lick ever played on a steel guitar. Walter's "turn-around" was incredible. For what it's worth, here is the link to the original recording: th-cam.com/video/bGbV8AEfQpQ/w-d-xo.html
Yea, that really is great. I mentioned Charley Pride as I heard him sing it many times live and I was a huge fan. It’s a great song sung by many. I got to meet Little Jimmy Dickens backstage at the Opry a year or so before he passed on. What a great character and entertainer he was with many great songs in his repertoire. Both, sadly no longer with us.
@@jonathanmilligan-pedalstee4273 My wife works security for CMA and some of the other events downtown. When she first worked with Charley Pride she came home saying he was the kindest most humble performer. (Some of the least famous newcomers are the worst.) When she heard he passed she called me knowing I'm also a big fan. Like you said sad loss...
Always impressed by your quality and tone, your technique is superb! Cheers
Just discovered you today. Absolutely beautiful. You may be the very best Steel Player on Planet Earth.
I really appreciate that Cal. Thanks for your subscription.
