I listened to that October Falls album and, man is some really good stuff. That album has some of the most beautiful atmosphere I've ever heard. Thanks for the great recommendation. I'm buying "A Collapse of Faith" as soon as I get some money.
I'm going to check this out, a lot of great recommendations, thanks! I'm trying to get into more black metal, but I don't really know where to start. I've got some Dimmu Borgir, Abigail Williams and Celtic Frost, and I plan on adding some more to my collection.
By the way, if you like Fever Ray, check out "iamamiwhoami". Her music has this audio/visual thing going on; she's got videos for every song she's done. Pretty dark, cryptic, enigmatic stuff that's also really beautiful and peaceful.
hey just letting you know i looked up istapp after watching this and i thought they were amazing! just ordered the album too thanks a lot man i owe you.
Great recommendations man. Didn't realize you enjoyed Fever Ray, but then again maybe there's a video/post that I've missed, nice to see some non-metal music as recommended as well though. Relating more to the abrasiveness/intensity of CTTTOAFF; I assume you've heard Dragged Into Sunlight?
yeah I understand about the Converge album. I really love it though. As for Carach Angren, i completely understand what your saying, Keyboards are really the main point of the album. I still really enjoy the Where The Corpses sink forever but I Totally respect your opinion. Thanks for the recommendations again man! :)
Awesome albums! I already had the Forteresse, Norkturnal Mortum, Temnozor, and Darkthrone albums, but I ordered all the others! In fact, "Metal Noir québequois" simply means "black metal from Quebec" (I'm not sure what the adjective is for "from quebec" in english: is it also quebecois?). And "les hivers de notre époque" means "the winters of our epoch" Keep it metal \m/
Thanks man! I didn't review it because it was really hard for me to actually review since its more of a hardcore record than anything and as for the Carach Angren album, I couldn't stand the mix. It was all keys, drums and vocals and not enough guitar and bass.
Thanks for the recommendations man! I just bought Fever Ray and the Istapp album after checking some songs on youtube :) hey im just wondering why you didnt review the new Converge album? Also, what did you think of Carach Angren's newest Where The Corpses Sink Forever? thanks man your videos are great! :)
That Goregrind CD features Machetazo (pronounced maa;chet;ah;zo)? That's awesome, I'm getting that. When it comes to black metal, I have to recommend a few CD's for you; Silencing Machine by Nachtmystium - I'm not entirely sure how to describe it other than a giant, evil, dark soundscape where the guitar sound has the "white noise" sounding guitar reminiscent of early black metal. It's fantastic and one of my favorites in the genre. I'd also suggest their previous two albums, Black Meddle 1 & 2 named Assassins and Addicts, respectively. Those have a strange psychedelic rock influence, with more than a few references to Pink Floyd. Addicts especially has to be one of the creepiest, dispair-filled, fucked up records I've ever heard - but that's another story. Skullreader by Sun of the Blind - Ambient black metal done exceptionally well. Alot to love if you can get into it, I find it to be an amazing record but it I can't really describe it. It's beyond explanation, you kinda have to hear it to understand what I'm going on about. If you like it, you'll probably like Darkspace as well, and I'd check out Wolves in the Throne Room if you haven't already. Under a Frozen Sun by Thulcandra - More on the melodic black metal side of things - imagine if Dissection created a follow-up to Storm of the Lights Bane. Melodic, but evil and dark. Well worth a listen.

Thanks so much for mentioning Nokturnal Mortum! They are amazing. My university has a lightly wooded area where I always listen to them at night

I completely agree with you on that Agalloch album. Great stuff, most of these bands I've never heard of so I'll have to check em out.

Thanks man!! Keep up the reviews, you kick major ass!!

These recommendations are nice! Did you ever hear Temnozor's Folkstorm of the Azure Nights?

Kirki, Vesilahden Veräjillä, Shaman Drum, Keep on Galloping, Ukon Wacka and anything off the new album.
When I get more stuff haha. I haven't picked up much since my unboxing. It might be soon, but not too sure.
I reviewed the new one back when it came out, but I will throw them in future recommendation videos!

Also you should consider Alcest in your future reviews... :)

I'll get hate for this but look into Dimmu Borgir. Thats where I started, then I found bands like Immortal and Satyricon.
I'm going to look in to Istapp because of this video.
By the way, istapp means ice shard in swedish, and Blekinge is a city / county in Sweden.
Great video! Pale Folklore IMO is superior in every way in comparison to 'The Mantle' I agree tho, TIS THE SEASON FOR Agalloch!

The Mantle by Agalloch. That is my favorite album of them... Best suggestion ever!

Hey Shawn when are you going to do another cd/vinyl update?
Yes I have and I love it! Can't wait to pick it up!
I didn't even know there was a new one. I need to get on that shit!
Check out the folk black/death metal band Dawn (Swe). They are absolutely fantastic!
Huge SDG fan! I just wish their albums were easier to find. I need to get the new version of Snowland asap.
I used to listen to them YEARS ago. I'll have to check it out!
Maybe you know it, but "Iskald" first album "shades of misery" is an awesome melodic black album!
I haven't picked up the new Enslaved so I haven't heard it yet. And I love Falls of Rauros!
Are you a fan of Agalloch's "Pale Folklore"?
what would be the best carcass album to get into
Hey dude, what are you're thoughts on the new ill Nino album Epidemia? Sounds really Metalcore influenced. Or are you a fan of them at all?
just looked up Nokturnal Mortum they're awsome!
Cows bring the spring, pellonpekko, Karhunkatolaulu, Running with wolves, Tervaskanto, Palovana, Kunnia, bring us pints of beer etc etc etc
Thats a tough one since every album is different. I personally got into them through Symphonies of Sickness so I guess I would say that one.
Good call on Temnozor!
What would you recommend from Lord Wind?
Will do man!
Agalloch is awsome! Thank you!
What are some good songs from korpiklanni?
Dragged into Sunlight is just dirty. I love them so much. I need to get the new album.
Forteresse and Agalloch
Yes I do and I love all of them. Sorcier des Glaces is stunning!
You listen to Istapp......Respect!
Hey man, have you heard the new Weregoat record?
Love all 3. Quebec has the best black metal scene at the moment.
LOVE everything by them! Circle the Wagons is amazing!
Yes. It was a mistake. Fixing now.
Count Blagorath do you like Ghost?
New Cytotoxin is godly and same for Beheaded.
The last 2 albums are nearly flawless.
Can you upload the "Slimewave Goregrind Series" to Mega Or Mediafire?
I love that album! Kroda is just amazing!
Alright!
Niceeeee
isnt the first album the mantle instead of mantel?
Yeah man. Diocletian (NZ) split.
Forteresse fucking rules.
Loving Istapp. Kinda reminds me of if golden era Darkthrone fucked Bergtatt era Ulver.
I still don't have an Agalloch...fuck..
I'm eating burritos while watching this right now hahahaha and I'm enjoying this
dat carcass shirt
carcass yeah
