    Thank you for your excellent videos. The information is so helpful! I bought my first Phal in December 2021 at Trader Joe's. It has a double spike and it's in bark medium. All the buds, except for one opened and all the flowers are still in bloom! I have another one that I bought at a home improvement store that has not done well. Half of the buds just didn't open and a few of the flowers have died. Its in a moss medium and the pot is for regular plants. I will report it soon.

    I was watching your sphag and bag method when you talked about putting a cup with moss in bag and putting in the rootless orchid without touching, but I would like it so much more if you would do more demonstrating

      Hi Kiki, Thank you! I think lady slipers are my favorite orchid so far and I find them easier to care for than Phals (but that'sjust my opinion). This one has been in bloom since November, one flower every 2 weeks.

    Thanks for the great advice again.
    Remember the keiki that sprouted leaves with no roots (still attached to the mother)i commented on?? It sprouted a flower spike to and its now about 5 inches long..almost in bloom, finally sprouted beautiful green roots,.the other keiki that accidently broke off same plant sprouted leaves and TWO flower spikes after i put it in moss..no roots at the time but am starting to see roots now. Its in moss AND bark now. Its gonna live!!!. So if someone says u have a keiki with no roots..dznt mean it will die, it might just produce leaves and 2 flower spikes then roots. Also, that mother plant that has the keiki still attached also has 2 flower spikes, almost a foot long now ea... Fxn to bloom any day.

      Im going to mount the keiki in a hanging wooden box when the roots get bigger.
      Have a great day!

    Most of my Phals flower for at least 6 months but, my very first Phal flowered for a year and a half before the first flower dropped. I guess that is what got me into growing orchids....Lol

    • @Orchideria
      @Orchideria  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sandie, wow, 1.5 years!!! I can't get my Phals to bloom that long. For me, it's usually around 4 months. The temperature fluctuates way too much in my home office for that.

    • @Rinsuki
      @Rinsuki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. My orchids bloom for 6 months too. Longest for me is my one orchid, she held her flowers for a whole year. I was like when are you going to rest? I grow mine without medium. I just soak my orchid once a weak in weak fertilizer and that is it.

    Advice please

    • @Orchideria
      @Orchideria  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brenda, It's not really a problem if the orchid doesn't have aerial roots. It may mean that it's fine in the substrate that it's potted in. So no worries there.

      Hi Terry, Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it. 🙏 I haven't made a video about cleaning leaves yet, but I have written an article about it. You can read it here: orchideria.com/clean-orchid-leaves/ .There are 7 ways that can be used to wipe the mineral deposits off, some work better than others.

    Could you help me please, I have moved my orchid from bark into water culture over a week ago, I only have a few roots which are green with a bit of blackish but feels firm, the main concern is my leaves are starting to droop not sure what am doing wrong, how long will it take for me to understand if my orchid is adapting to water culture?

    • @Orchideria
      @Orchideria  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zainab, Usually orchids will show signs in a month or so if they are adapting well or not. The first few weeks are really a testing game because they need time to react and find their new equilibrium with the water and air. The blackish spots worry me though. I'd leave it another week and if the leaves don't start to plump up, then I'd change it. If the black spots weren't there, I wouldn't be so worried and leave it to adapt a little longer.

    Oh lord..im scared. I got 3 orchids as gifts this year and have been trying my best for around 4 months now. All of them were in bad shape...according to videos. Now I have new blooms but they aren't popping

    • @Orchideria
      @Orchideria  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sandra, If they have new blooms then you are on the right track. Orchids take an extremly long time to react and grow. I have an upcoming video in que about bud blast. It describes what might be happening if the buds are forming but not opening, and falling off from there.On the other hand, If they just are forming but taking a long time to open, then no worries. That's the way its supposed to be.

    One more sign and that is, if your phal. Has at last 7 or more healty leaves

    • @Orchideria
      @Orchideria  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wagiman, Thanks for adding that. There is an old wife's tale that says that you should have one Phal leaf for every 10% humidity level. Since most Phals like 50-70% humiidty, that means 5 to 7 leaves. I'm not sure if that was ever proven or if it just remains a tale.
