    You guys must like watching dramatic and suspenseful movies alot bc that caribou shot was one hell of a dramatic scene.

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not even half of the full kill shot sequence. We shortened it. It was pretty intense. That bull did not want to go down.

    I’d be okay if I never get to experience what you guys did on this trip. With that being said I still enjoy watching them everyday.. It’s honest and real and that’s what everyone, including myself, can appreciate. Congratulations on a great bull.

    You guys continue to knock it out of the park! Three years ago the same thing happened on my sons first whitetail hunt, I turned the turret the wrong way and we never saw where he was hitting. He was shooting at a spike but since he missed he was able to shoot a small 3point the next day! I have enjoyed every minute of your videos they motivate and get me excited to get back out in the field and become better. It seems a lot hunters are pushing conservation, organic food even though this is all true and good, I like what Jay said in the Q&A about hunting because it is fun and exciting, I think we are starting to become to politically correct in the way we approach it. The best part of this episode was to know that I'm not the only one who would've eaten a donut with bloody hands! Thanks Chase for the good laugh, my wife even noticed it!

    Great video, I'm grateful you showed the extra shots you put into the Caribou. It is a hard thing to watch an animal after the shot suffer, even just for a moment. The cost of the bullet is well worth it. I now have this hunt on the must do list, thanks . Joe

    Oh man that shot in slow motion was way cool and so proud of you for putting another bullet in him so he didn't have to suffer! This is what anti-hunters need to see - that we really do have compassion and respect for the animal!

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just put them down as fast as possible. If I was a caribou bull, I wouldn't want to die either... but much rather it be a bullet or two that does the job quickly as opposed to being eaten alive by wolves or a bear.

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      People don't like to think about how brutal nature is. We don't like to think about diseases and viruses and nasty shit. It's all just fluffy kittens and bear cubs that think like we do and are full of joy and warmth and love. It's such a bullshit lie Disney and the BBC have been selling for decades.

      Dude, this sequence is about half what we actually filmed of it going down. It didn't go down after that second shot we showed... the first time watching it back we knew we couldn't show all of it. It was pretty brutal. But still, now where near as brutal as being eaten alive by a pack of wolves.

      The Mountain Project kinda odd as Caribou are not known for being tough animals, they usually go down pretty easily.

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what we thought going into it. He wasn't going to go anywhere, but he certainly wasn't going down either. There were two additional shots that we decided not to show because of the length of the sequence, the amount of blood pouring out its mouth and nose, and the wind leaving the bullet hole to the lungs.

I noticed a shot in The Long Loop, the skyline of the caribou seemed to be slow motion panning right while the clouds where going left at full or time lapse speed. Big congrats on the nice Bull...missing yesterday was a blessing in disguise! Why did Jay not have a Caribou tag? A cheap Caribou hunt that people can do is fly into Fairbanks and drive up the Dalton Hwy. Once you get over Atigun Pass you will be in Caribou country. Only kicker is for rifle you have to be 5 miles off the road and the tundra in not easy to walk on. Can hunt right off the road with a bow but there is little to no cover making getting close tough.

    • @Randy_Savage_ohyeah
      @Randy_Savage_ohyeah 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Forgot to mention....if you want to do a fun hunt, hunt Sitka Blacktail on Kodiak Island. Can get 4 or 5 tags usually and tons of Deer.

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks James. It sure was. - I did have a Caribou tag in case we saw a good bull while sheep hunting - but this hunt was in a draw area, so I couldn't use it here. I ended up using the Caribou locking tag on my Kodiak goat hunt (the videos that start tomorrow.)

    Bravo bravo really have enjoyed watching the start to this season makes me miss the past season but excited for the next ones to come. Everybody is asking what gear you're wearing what's your shooting what cameras are using so my question is how many batteries are you going through on something like this trip and or what are you using to help repower all the Electronics? This is been one of my biggest questions and on the Q&A Jamie the comment of taking a lot of batteries.

    Excellent work on a beauty bull fellas! Those early season caribou are tough to beat, absolutely delicious!! Once again, the video work is awesome, every aspect of it!! How did you manage with the antlers in the cub? Were you able to fly them externally or did you have to split them?

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. We were able to tie them to the wing struts and get them out.

      Patricia Roundy I believe there are a lot of over the country tags...not super expensive and no guide required.

      This is a good area that's not easy to draw, but as James mentions, there's a lot of opportunity to hunt Caribou OTC in AK
