    Hello I think it also depends on the broiler breed some start growing after six weeks like Arbor Acres some breed are for six weeks some are for more than six weeks

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Actually, you point is very valid for Arbor acre breed of broilers that stay longer to manifest hugeness, that's why most profit minded broiler farmers switched to breeds like Ross, Cobb that exhibit faster growth within 6 weeks, to maximize profit.
      The point am just trying to make is that, for profitability 6 weeks is great. Above that, profit margins go down

      @enod9746 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for making this point. I bought Arbor Acres and was disappointed by their weight gains at 6 weeks.

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Arbor is one of the first advanced set of breeds that came into Nigeria and many old farmers are familiar with them and they take their time, plus still feed like other breeds, so it's best to go for the other more genetically modified breeds with faster growth instead.

    I want to raise chickens for personal purpose for about six months,And I have already bought them two weeks before I came across this video today,What should I do?And I want to use its all in July ending by God's grace.They are 3weeks plus now.

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      6 months is a lot of time to train a batch of birds oo. Its time enough to train at least 3 batches and sell off too.
      Since they are 3 weeks old already, with good management, you can raise them to marketable weight in the next 3 weeks or at most 5 weeks, sell and replace them.
      Finally to target a batch that will be ready by July ending, check the specific date, using your calendar, calculate 6 or 7 or 8 weeks backward.. That's when you should book for the batch that will be ready by July ending.
      Hope this helps.

      Am not sure, but I think many poultry related stuffs like feed mills, or probably few hatcheries are located in Ogun state, so just make offline enquiries

    Which broiler breed will you recommend and where can i get that

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 3 popular broiler breeds in Nigeria, Ross 308, Cobb and abhor acre, are all good.
      I don't specifically recommend any, cause it depends on what you, the farmer wants, since they have different features and advantages above themselves.

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From this question, lemme assume you don't have outlets you can sell dressed broilers to, cause if you did, I'd have said slaughter, dress and freeze
      In you case I'd recommend you keep feeding them till you find buyers, but note that the longer you feed them to meet their nutritional requirements from the 6 week, the lower your possible profit becomes.
      I recommended you watch this video below, on how to sell your broilers

      @@farmsdiary I do have a question if you have opportunity to answer at your convenience. Here in USA it is typical to experience 20 to 30 percent flock loss/culls prior to processing from various reasons. I've been told it's 5 to 10 percent at most in other parts of the world. Do you have any insight on that percentage variance or what might be specific factors that contribute to such a big difference? We are just curious of other producers' experiences & want to improve our skills & operations, too. Thanks so much again. I will watch & like more of your videos.

    Hi please, i am about to start my own broiler farm and I am still in the
    research stage..... please what is the Cost of full-grown broiler in Nigeria

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The price of full grown broiler depends on many factors like;
      How much it cost to raise them,
      Your location,
      Season...
      So I'd recommend you ask around the location you want to site your poultry farm, for what matured broilers are sold, cause there is where your target market will also be, when you start.
      Before the week runs out, I'd share how to cost the price to sell your broilers.

    Can I go into frozen with broiler and is it profitable?

    • @farmsdiary
      @farmsdiary  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Frozen are mainly done with broilers, cause they produce more meat, that have weight than layers.
      And yes, frozen business is profitable.

    • @farmsdiary

      Its just good litter management, that's all...
      Have in mind that the older broilers get, the faster the mess up their litter, so remove and change immediately its messed up.
