The last sentence "The Taiwan Film business is now effectively dead" by Mr. Rayns struck hard . Tsai Ming Liang is the one who is still striving till day . Hou Hsiao Hsien is hardly there . Just like Hong Kong New Wave the greats of time seems flickering . Save Cinema 🎬🎞️

@@niallfoody97 it's unfortunately nowhere near the modern classics of the past wave in terms of originality and impact. The forced melodrama towards the end killed it for me. And even though its director wins every award in Taiwan everytime he puts out a movie, he's not well praised among cinephiles and movie-goers for most of them. It feels like they are desperate to handing him awards because there are no new geniuses coming along.

What strikes me the most is that films starring people like Alexander ló, Chang shan, William yen are never considered films or good films , are never talked about and the question is why?
    John Liu, Dao Wong, etc

    Very thoughtful.
And Xiao Yeh (Yuan Li) is going to be the Minister of Culture of Taiwan after May 20, 2024.
