    more power = more coil whine in general. It was most loud in cards 300w or more and much quieter in lower tier cards like 180w - 220w. That is my experience in last 10 or so cards anyway. High power gaming laptops have it also in my experience, i can hear the same screaching

      I understand what you mean but my 2060 super uses about 175Watts and is so annoying even my brother can hear it from the other room. And the worst part is, that it screams louder when I cap my Fps. I changed my PSU but now it makes a bit different noises but it is still there.

      @@razonspielt1851 i went from the 5700xt to a 2070 super hoping itd be better and it wasnt lol. got a good deal on a corsair rm850x shift psu this week and its quieted it down a lot, the gpu whine is quieter at full power now than it was underclocked + undervolted before, plus no more psu and motherboard vrm noise. starting to think literally all new gpus have whine lol.

      @@wasted828 well im really confused about which component really is responsible for the coil whine. Because it is really strange that most of my gpus suddenly has the same issue. I have an old gtx 970 and it does the same thing. I have a strange feeling that it is caused of my appartments socket which has a an impact to do such coil whine on my gpus. I just hate it so much but I cant do nothing about that..

      Generally I would say the nature of coil whine is more dependent on quality of the components.
      For an example I had Gigabyte RTX 4090 and it nearly was silent, also had Gigabyte Aorus Master RTX 4080 - completely silent, I was beyond amazed.
      But, what matters is how PSU/Motherboard/GPU are gelling together, some PSUs are amazing, but won't gel with a certain GPU or motherboard.
      Some PSUs do amazing with one GPU, and the other PSU will do amazing with another brand GPU
      Luck of the draw

    I have an Asus TUFF RTX3080 TI and the coil whine it makes while using 350W of power is crazy.

    My gigabyte 3080ti vision OC can make coil while in very specific situations i.e. menus with HIGH FPS though almost no whine most the time, very odd.

    • @limitless-hardware1866
      @limitless-hardware1866  ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, as explained, whine at high fps even under low loads is very common. but most of the time not a valid reason for refund, as it s not present most of the time / in cases where it is actually hindering the experience. Many Cards will whine at least a bit in those situations

    • @nickolay1259
      @nickolay1259 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is actually normal. 2000fps with real low load is inadeqate work mode. Much worse if it whines in idle or in any game with any fps (like mune has)

    I just bought new colorful 4070, it was long delivery from far away, and I am very upset now because it whines. Worse that it seems there are spoiled shipment or spoiled revision, becasue 5/15 people in recent rewievs say it whines.
    First I asked refund and still discuss this with seller.
    But now i decied to open case and hear. And seems like new vide card makes whine everything at once, PSU, motherboard and itself also.
    Yes, my psu old and little low power, it is bronze Cougar 550w in cool red painting. And it must have enough wattage to cover 200w of gpu+100w peak cpu. (can do 512w on 12v line in specification), and he does work well. But. Everything whines.
    Not sure if I should give up and start get money on new rig (pus mb cpu memory in pack).
    Or continue argue about 4070 refund.

      I strongly recommend upgrading your PSU, it can make other components whine. and the cougar unites werent that great when they were new anyways
      And in keeping that psu you are running the risk of destroying your whole system if something goes bad. Especially because capacitors and other components in PSUs age and get worse with time. i would highly advise AGAINST running the card with this power supply.
      For PSU buying advice for 40 and 30 series cards, we have this video on our channel: th-cam.com/video/X079yO2c4yg/w-d-xo.html there you find everything there is to know about modern GPU and PSU combinations

      @@limitless-hardware1866 that psu worked fine with previous 1070. While i checked everything, i put it back once, and it was happiness, everything quiet!
      About risk, I'd say there is more of that in trying new units on old and my only rig, any spoiled unit can blow everything, unlike one that work long and fine.
      Will check video
