In part one of this Caribbean cruise vlog on board Arvia, I’ll be Sharing a first timers perspective of how cruising works, what not to miss and how to make the most of your cruise. In part one we’ll be visiting Antigua, St. Kitts as well as spending a sea day relaxing in the impressive spa, testing out some of the delicious food on offer in the 26 dining and bars, and enjoying the incredible entertainment too.

What an incredible trip! I've never been on a cruise. I've always worried about feeling sea sick, but it looks so big that you probably wouldn't even feel the movement. Would love to go on a cruise maybe sometime in the future with the boys! x

We're doing our first P&O cruise in the next 2 weeks we can't wait! Ours is only north Europe, but we're still excited. The ship looks stunning. Thank you for such an informative and fun video. We are doing this cruise onboard Arvia in November. Cruising from Antigua to Barbados. This is our first visit to the Caribbean and we’re wondering what to expect. However your video has given us a great insight into what to expect and some great ideas to do when ashore.

I needed longer really to show you more of what's available. We are headed to Norway on Iona as a family trip so it will be great to show more of what's available and from a different perspective. We did cruise 10 years ago on honeymoon and did St Kitts can't wait to see what other islands you were on that we did back then!

What camera do you use?
Were the flights included in this cruise?
At the moment, im looking at the one that starts in Barbados and this one. Some have flights, and some don't .
Do you get very long to look around Antigua before you set sale?
Yes the charter flight to Antigua was included. I didn’t have loads of time when we got there but that was mainly because I was so new to it all I was getting my bearings. I would do it differently if I got to go again and get out sooner xx

Some people are there now and it looks amazing, for me personally I would go Jan/Feb when it's really cold in the UK and there's not the festivities going on to enjoy. I would do a 2 week one next time as so much to see x
It didn’t even look like the boat was moving at all! Do you feel sea sick at all? Like would you usually feel sea sick on smaller boats? Xxx
Nope!! Not at all! You can barely feel it moving due to the size of it, the only time I felt it was when it was turning into port for example but even then it was very mild! No issues at all :) x

Oh amazing! I’m so excited for you. I was so happy to see so many solo travellers having such a brilliant experience and meeting so many people. It’s an amazing way to cruise. Lots of people were back with people they’d met on previous solo cruises too. I think my cabin was 311? I can’t actually remember now! I hope you have a brilliant time xx

Great video. Did you have to get vaccinated for tropical diseases and also how is the wi-fi there? How much is it?
Thank you! No, I didn't get any vaccinations. You might need to check for yourself though. The wi-fi is ok, amazing really considering you're in the middle of the ocean! There are different packages available too. If you don't desperately need it you could just use your normal 4G when on the islands and enjoy the peace truly "offline" for the sea days! xx
Pity the camera wasn't facing the other way a bit more, so that we can actually see the boat/excursions.

We are going on the same cruise in November, I was wondering how you found getting to sunbeds and getting access to the pools etc? Because I've only been on Norwegian fjords ones and it's not an issue on that due to the weather
Ah I’d love to do the Norwegian fjords! I hope you have a lovely time on The Caribbean cruise this year.
I will say on a sea day the areas around pools will be busy, the pools themselves weren’t though.
If you can, the retreat is a lovely quiet area of the ship, this does come with an additional fee though, i think of around £12.
To be honest though, there’s so much to do on board that on the sea day I found myself wanting to make the most of the rest of the ship. There’s even an escape room! Cinema, spa, entertainment, activities like golf, high wires etc. so there’s plenty to do if you don’t choose to sit by the pool and I found the sides of the ship to be nice and quiet to lay down around if the pool is too busy.

What was arvia like and was it a good price
We absolutely loved Arvia! So much to do, you will never be bored. Pricing really depends on a lot of factors like dates, amount of time, cabin type etc etc. There were people on there who paid £1000 from what I gathered talking to them.

We flew from Heathrow and the best part is it's all privately chartered for P&O Cruises so it's super easy and slick! Bags get sorted for you and all the transfers are ready when you land! Have a great time :)

What is a cover charge?
What is actually included?
How much are the excursions?
Can you do your own excursions?
Can't you get cash on board to use on the islands?
The meals in the main dining room (MDR) and the buffet etc are included in the price of the cruise but the speciality restaurants charge a "cover charge" as they are not included - it is just a supplement - not sure how much but usually isn't a lot. The food on the ship is good anyway so you don't have to go to the speciality restaurants if you dont want to. The excursions prices vary but you can book your own or just get off the ship and do what you want.
the spa treatments arent included and they are expensive
Is it quick getting on & off at each port?
Yep! Super quick. Just have your cruise card to hand and some ports may require photo ID 👍🏻
Depends where you are - if you are visiting small islands like the greek islands then often they have to tender you by boat from the ship to the dock - in those cases there is often a queue.

Thanks for the tips! This one was slightly different because it was a press trip with a group that was all pre-planned, but our next one will include all of this as we are doing it all ourselves :) Check back in September if you're interested!

This one was a press trip for more of a media group to see what it was like so sadly they weren't with me, I missed them lots but it was great to see it from a different perspective to be able to show it for couples/friends trip/solo travelers and then families also on an upcoming trip.
I am really looking forward to showing them Arvia when we return in the summer, and I can't wait to show you guys more of what's on offer for families and kids next time! xx

I love your videos Lara but am shocked that you are promoting P&O who sacked 800 of their British workers without consultation last year and are 40% owned by a Russian company! They are being boycotted by most people.
It’s not P&O!! Don’t worry! It’s P&O Cruises who have done none of those things and are a lovely company who have great company morals 👍🏻
