So you got it right. The chorus is what they want her to say or what they expect her to say. This song is about sexual harassment and beauty standards. And they blame crybaby for being too provocative. This behavior is the what I call "boys will be boys" Bs. It's just wrong. But in the comments of the song you can see a lot of women that attacked men because of their sex. It's called generalization it's caused because of a woman's past with the boys. It's whole complex topic..
I feel it's about purity culture and how women are shamed for the way they dress, but then have unrealistic expectations of what they're bodies should look like. Also, I feel it's about how they're blamed for being raped or sexually harassed or assaulted.

Shes saying she doesnt want to have to be insecure about her body image bc she wants to accept herself but the media says look this way if you want intimacy also shes kind of angry that she has to get in trouble for her fashion and her glamour when the boys have no manners. Shes saying it's not my fault is it? That I'm dressing myself up nice is my attempt at attracting someone but I dont wanna be shamed about this. You're right in the end. Perspectives need to evolve and people need to keep thier morals in sight.
This song was referring to a cartoon character from the 1980’s and a toy line. They did 6 TV animated specials and 14 record albums.

I hate how us girls are being told to put clothes on because another man might be in the room really? It's not our fault that they want to look at us like that it's just a total mess in my opinion and I completely agree guys need to learn how to respect girls and we shouldn't have to defend ourselves simply because someone doesn't want to treat us with respect although I'm angry I don't necessarily blame the guys for this we're being fed lies over and over of how things should be according to society standards
I thought this song had one of the most obvious messages of all of Melanie’s songs.
This song is so amazing and touches on a lot of topics really well,like at my school they updated the dress code so that “if a female student’s underwear can be seen under her skirt/dress while walking up the stairs then it is too short” or this kid grabbed my friends butt because it was “grab ass month” and the principle just had a 20 minute convo with him about female anatomy. But in the dress code for boys all it says is they can’t have profanity,drug references,sex references,weapons,gang merchandise,or baggy pants while the girls can’t wear a tank top unless it’s straps are four fingers wide. This song is such an important one and I am so glad that you understood the message unlike a lot of men I’ve seen react.🥰

After being a lovely little girl I grew breasts and at my young age in my class all the boys would stare at my breasts because there big and my mom would always tell me to shave my legs and put makeup on and be attractive in a sexual way it hurts as well when us 11-15 year old girls start growing big butts and boobs and the boys start coming to us but to be honest you do have a point that boys are loyal but we just need to find the right boys we want to date
