    For me, the most important tip was your warning about re-wetting making it less fresh looking.

    Great demonstration! When you were painting around the river, I was very tense, almost holding my breath, and then you said it was stressful for you to paint like that and that you get quite tired afterwards. I felt validated, knowing I’m not the only one who experiences that kind of stress while painting. You are a wonderful teacher and artist.

    thank you , principles are exactly what i needed. i watched a lot of videos about wet on wet , but you are the only one who gave me any idea of the time frame in which i should be applying the technique. (i had no idea of it ). i also never considered that drying paper was thirstier than wet paper , or the effect of having more water on my brush than on the painting .... i feel like i can now at least start diagnosing my mistakes instead of just staring at them .. thank you again for your calm explanation of things i did not know enough about to even ask

    As an oil painter, watercolor is such a mystery to me! I think it’s the surrender to the medium that’s necessary that I find so difficult. It does what it does and you have to accept the results, or find a way to manipulate it. I really enjoy watching your video and definitely learned something!

    • @Cafewatercolor
      @Cafewatercolor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dennis Tyson Plein Air thank you! I used to paint with oil and acrylic paint and then digital. Now watercolor, does take sometime to get use to, but I am familiar with it, it’s a very freeing experience :)

      @Yasmine S. It seems to me with watercolors you almost need to paint in reverse. Instead of putting the snow on top of a pine tree, you leave the area white where the snow will be later, and paint around it with the darker colors of the tree. Why must I always pick the most difficult way to do things? I don't know, but the idea of my brain trying to figure out how to do this intrigues me.

    I know this is 2 years old already, but the way you explained and showed different wetness stages REALLY helped me understand. I was able to watch your painting and understand why and how you were choosing the paint mixtures, your timing, and the paint consistency! I'm kinda blown away as I've not seen someone explain wet on wet this way, so thank you!

    Eric, I really appreciate the patience and kindness that you speak with. You are easy to listen to and I have started putting your videos up while I paint, even if I am not doing the same thing because I always pick something up you said that I can use in whatever I am doing - even though I mostly screw it up! Your slight misuse of the English language is also endearing and makes it like I am listening to a friend. Don't stop your videos..! Question: I seem to be hopping from here to there, with no real plan to teach myself any of this. Can you recommend a set of lessons to follow OR do YOU have a set of videos that I can follow along that is good for a beginner? Tanks (haa haa). Kym

    Thank you for the way in which you taught this video, with practical application, showing, not just telling, including the way you were mixing paints as you were painting, adding detail to the washes as you were painting. I will definitely practice this tutorial. It answered so many questions. I have been using too much water and too much paint. When I mix colors ahead of time they seem to dry by the time I'm ready to use them and I waste more paint by in between rinsing. The way you did this was so real time refreshing and efficient. Subscribed! I look forward to learning more from you.
