  • @yamahakid450f
    @yamahakid450f ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure how this will go... Yes the new Yamaha is thinner and not so bulky compared to the '22, but it's less stable, it doesn't jump through the whoops nearly as well as the KTM, and his biggest advantage is being on the brakes, pivoting, and cutting down tighter than anyone else to shorten the track and make up for the lack of raw speed compared to a Sexton or Tomac.... While we've seen Eli start cutting down tighter than we ever saw on the '22, I don't think it's going to be quite as good at that... Even though the Austrian bikes aren't the best in the whoops in general, i don't see him all of a sudden figuring out long, big cupped out whoops just by switching brands. The fresh air by being on a team that he dominated in the 250 class, that should be a big positive, and they were able to figure the bike out when factory Yamaha, JGR, etc couldn't, so it should be a lot better than his previous stint on Factory Yamaha when he moved to the 450 class. I'm not sure he'll be better compared to the KTM that he's won two titles on and looked good outdoors compared to how he normally looks, and I don't think he was really giving it everything he had since he was mad he couldn't ride overseas in World Supercross and never wanted to race outdoors, feel like he was going through the motions and was more than happy to part ways and he probably was fighting for that contract to end before Pala even dropped a gate. Also, if he doesn't win within the first 3-4 races and isn't consistently in the top 3, mentally he's going to question if he made the right decision.. Same with Sexton on KTM, he's either going to better or he's going to be worse, i don't see there being any inbetween...and with both Hunter and Jett riding 450's, I don't see Webb being up there on the podium much, atleast not compared to years prior... it'll be hard for Sexton too, especially if he gets mentally frustrated. I've heard Hunter is just as good as Jett on a 450 and he's been on it for quite awhile. In no particular order, i see it being Jett, Eli, and Hunter being top 3 consistently if Hunter is as good as I've heard. Id love to see some brother on brother racing for wins, it'd be historic. Then i see Sexton being the 4th place guy... While I like KTM, I don't feel it will suit him and his style and I'm not sure how mentally compromised he is... He may be similar in speed, but I don't see it fixing those mistakes he's now known for, I see it making it worse. He rode the Same exact settings this year as he did outdoors against Eli in '22, he keeps losing the front when last year was night and day better in terms of not going down. Jett never loses the front, he'll push both wheels before he loses the front, and he saves it by his body positioning. He stays straight up and down centered on the motorcycle with elbows up giving him leverage and weighting the outside peg, while chase when his front starts going he dips his shoulder and that puts the weight in the exact opposite place it should be when losing the front, so he ends up on the ground in the blink of an eye. I think it's a Sexton issue, not a Honda problem, not with those resources and looking that comfortable at speed, atleast until he's on the ground.
    The shorter wheel base on the '23 YZ-F also makes it more unstable at speed and last year Eli struggled most in the transitions on long rhythm sections, especially when it was rutted and was spongy, pulling the bike down. If Eli kept getting headshake and couldn't push through the faces in the rhythms and kept getting more pop than he wanted, I don't see Webb being able to push through and stay low... But when the track got tight with more corners and shorter rhythms, that's when Eli had everyone covered last year.. and after a full supercross season, I see the bike being better for Eli than it was last year. I know that sounds crazy since he won the first few races, but you could see he was struggling with things and it became more apart when it was rutted, cause normally the ruttier it gets the more Eli likes it, that wasn't the case in '23...but it takes time to dial in a brand new generation motorcycle and then automatically throw on all your rigid factory parts before you ever even ride it, it's easy to be lost and not have any clue which way to go... teams used to start with stock motorcycles when they get a new generation motorcycle and build it from there, that way you feel what each and every part does and which way you need to go throughout the process. Starting from a factory bike is backwards in my opinion. Infact, Dylan went to a stock-ish bike before Unadilla and through that found which direction he needed to go, and he did look a lot better, the bike stopped looking so high in the rear with those bars, he didn't look like Dylan. It really looked like they took Tomac's bike and slapped the number 14 on it, he loves a high rear and similar low/swept bars.
