    If anyone else is curious (like I was) I looked up what the speed limit for crews doing recce was.
    "The maximum speed allowed during Reconnaissance is 80kmh on special stages unless a lower speed limit is indicated by road signs or by written instructions in the roadbook"
    At all other times "Competitors must fully respect the Polish Traffic Law regulations including use seatbelts and speed limits"
    Which are 50kmh in build up areas, and 90kmph outside of build up areas.

    • @sultankosmitov6293
      @sultankosmitov6293 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      80-90kph is still a lot, for a tight road like this, unpaved, driving head-on with a regular family car. I believe they didn't have to follow the lower limit of 50 there, since the accident took place far from any houses one could consider a build-up area.

      @babar292 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, they obey the speed limits ofc but that doesn't mean driving that speed would be safe for every corner and blind crest, and the drivers always want to get the best understanding of how the road will look at race speed as legally possible. Not to mention sometimes stopping on the road to check notes and accelerating and concentrating on things to add to pacenotes while trying to look at the traffic at same time. Such a sad accident :(

    Well their GPS data isn't clear with the statement of the victims which were a couple over their 60s so the Ford driver stated already that the Toyota driver was speeding too much and for avoiding collision pushed to the left. Please keep in mind that 3 years ago Ogier had an accident on the public road in Croatia as well nearly causing in danger pedestrians. Getting back to the core the old driver from Ford stated that this road was open to the public and there it was not possible to drive fast because some parts of the road were under reconstruction locally. Toyota can lie to the media if they want but if you paid enough attention to the pictures and the victim statements then everything that Toyota says is a big lie without showing the data.

During wRC rally Germany Police car was present on the road when special stage was run... no warning for organisers and next year rally germany was in caledar.. in many rallies rally drivers had crashes with local traffic users.. like in Croatia and in New Zeland during wRC rally New Zeland kwi national champion Posssum Borne ws killed in crash durring recce. bring 6-7 milions Euro to the table in organise rally in your shth-le country. Poland do their job and 2 suuperb modern helicopters Eurocopters EC-135 P2+ arrived in minutes. recce is done always in normal traffic.That plase is ver narrow gravel road..curve behind crest it is always triccky..both in rally competition and normal traffic. Contract was signed only on this year! There is no many countries and sponsors who want to pay 7 milions of Euro to organise rally.. it cost huge monay to pay for FIA and do organisation stuff..and there is no money return to the economy. and local buisness. Poland is in top 14 most visted countries. regular tourist..about 50-60 milions per year will leave more money than rally fans without souch costs. now you can GTFO
