Since CC truly was quite awful, I see that extra layer, along with overaccessorizing, as a way to celebrate all that is *not* approved by Coco Chanel: equality, freedom from bigotry, & peace among nations and religions. (Just want to emphasize I am not making light of the things she supported, nor saying shimmer is the same as joining the resistance)
Also, I literally do this daily! Either a dot of shimmer shadow or a teeny bloop of sparkly gel eyeliner! Lol my glasses & face architecture cause my eye looks to dim by 50%, so it's still a bit hard to see even multiple layers of foil shadow, which I've realized is a blessing! I wear A LOT of eye makeup. I get to pile on 6-8 shadows, lots of sparkle, but then my glasses & bones tone everything down. I get subtle makeup with light pops of "extra" that looks very nice on mature skin, but I get the fun of heavy, heavy makeup looks lol!
This resonates with me so much! I have a very similar approach. Anytime I have time to play, I always wonder what i can do differently. And, I LOVE the resulting look, right up my alley! ❤️
You included so many great tips and, for me, some nice reminders to use my makeup in different ways. I completely related to the aspect of just having fun applying makeup. The joy you had applying it is definitely reflected in the beauty and personality of the final look!
@@Betterthanbasicivy I think that just reflects your thoughtful content. ;-) I always enjoy your considered approach to your videos, even when I don't have my hands free to comment. 💛
@@Betterthanbasicivy Lust for dusk is BEAUTIFUL and a cool toned dream but I decluttered it because it didn't last very long on me. I enjoy my version very much! Posted a mauvey smokey eye if you want to see @makeupblurbs 😊
I was tinkering with my single eyeshadows, you know, rearranging them, swatching etc. This was the perfect video to accompany that. Your hubby is onto something!

That's another fantastic way to change things up! I actually have also been recently more inspired to do all matte colorful looks and that's been a lot of fun. I love the Shroud palettes for all matte looks!
I love this whole concept and video!! This is exactly how I want to feel about my day to day makeup that still makes me feel special. Also, totally feel the same about using my lower lash line area for shadow. I feel like it helps balance out my lid space and takes attention away from my dark circles/under eye hollows. I feel weird without shadow on my lower lash line. Even for one and done looks, I'll usually run some kind of matte under there.
So glad to hear you feel the same about undereye shadow! I feel like so many folks are scared to put makeup under their eyes, but I find it incredibly flattering on tons of people!
“Before you leave the vanity, look in the mirror and add one more layer of sparkly eyeshadow” - Def Not Coco Chanel
Lol yep, it me. Ivy approved.

@@montananerd8244 totally agree - eff Chanel!
“It’s about taking time for you” heck yes doing fun eye makeup is so energizing
JUBILANT MAKEUP is gonna be my new everyday aesthetic
I would say let’s make it a hashtag but eff those. Let’s just shout it from the rooftops!
I was thinking it would make a great brand name 👀🤔😌
I would TOTALLY buy your byop!!❤

Smoky cool toned neutrals have been my love language lately too. Just so good & that palette is DREAMY. 💜
Gonna be awhile before I take this one apart...
beautiful look!🥰🥰
I have very few people in my"real" life that wear color makeup. It's so nice to hear from creators like you to reignite my spark
I had grand plans of working on using palettes but then I duped Colourpop Lust for Dusk and now that’s all I want to use
Ohh I don't know that palette but I am gonna look it up!

@@Betterthanbasicivy Of course! No problem
I actually just started doing all matte eyeshadow looks to mix it up because I always do one matte and lots of shimmer. 😊

Aww thank you! I love playing with the color changing lights in the background ❤
Very beautiful BYOP!
Did you get the Clionadh leucite palette from that person on IG? I am thinking of ordering from them.
Yes! I ordered it through @heyzhy on IG!
