Darren, your channel is amazingly authentic and based in reality. I really enjoy watching your videos because it’s authentic. This video is awesome. Thanks for making it .
When we had a maintenance hub at Alliance, I was a a check airman and had to ferry 75/76's and the 777. We only had the 200's then. My record off to on time was 8 minutes, however, a flight rarely if ever went off on time out of Maintenance and usually 6 to 8 hours later. I have actually gone illegal waiting for the airplane to get fixed. Thinking back to 1987, I was dual qualified as engineer on the727 and DC-10. One day on reserve, I got sent to Tulsa to fly with the Tulsa Test pilots. In one day we test flew a 727-100, a -200, a -200B, a DC-10-10 and a DC-10-30. The last one the Captain scraped the tail on rotation, that put Kybosh on the remainder of the day. I was glad to get home to Dallas.
Love watching your videos! Always super inspiring and a reassurance as I make my way through training. About to finish up my Instrument rating!! Always look forward to your videos every week! All the best for you Darren
Darren , I love your videos and you as a person. I hope I get a chance to meet you and say hello. Keep doing what you do, I look forward to your next video your airline in luck to have you. Take care
Aside from it being a tiring and life risk taking job, the amount of knowledge, training and exams that pilots have to go through regularly... They deserve all the pay they can get. Just going through PPL as an engineer. I respect all of the airline pilots, and how much money and effort to get to that point. It's definitely not for someone with a weak stomach and weak heart!
Not sure if there is enough for a video on this, but do you find there to be default topics of conversation in flight and are they different if you are flying a narrowbody domestic vs widebody international? One would assume politics and religion are best avoided, but hours on end in a cubical with someone, could lead down some interesting tangents.
Okay Houston, we have a problem. Last video you had an imaginary friend sitting next to you. In this video you are talking to yourself and having quiet the colloquy. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if you were some mad scientist that is brilliant with video, graphics etc and had an elaborate studio and we are nothing more than “passengers on your journey” ? I’m along for the ride !

Coke Darren? Pepsi all the way. Thanks for the great videos. Love the insight into your career and experiences.
It’s a southern thing
Coke >>>>>>>> Pepsi
@ my wife and I can’t agreed on soda vs pop either.
Soda!!
@@N1120A Coke in a glass bottle with real sugar is definitely hard to pass up.
When you're picking up a aircraft from maintenance is there anything in your preflight checks that's more thorough?
From heavy maintenance yes. For a modification no. If it’s been down a while I check a few things more closely.
What do you think about the pmdg 777 for msfs2020? How does it perform compared to real life?
It's very good but still held back by MSFS limitations.
I wish I could have capture it!!;

Oh man, I missed it! A year ago I capture a 773 at Tulsa and they did a 2000 feet landing. It was extremely short landing
Is this ferry flight considered part 91 or 121?
Operates under part 91

Shhh. The FAA might hear you.

Darren.. do you fly lot of ferry flights? and are most takeoffs set at reduced power even if your plane is full? Another great video!!
I’ve done two far on the 777. There aren’t common for me. Yea almost every takeoff odd reduced power even if we’re full.
Coke as An Cocaine? I had a friend we called 747 because he could snorch 2 lines at ones! 😅😅
