I hope they will bring a full frame camera and some really good lens, small and crystal clear. I am thinking for this as a street photo camera… hope is the focus 😊
You simply have to love sigma for constantly putting out concept products into the market: both the quattro and the fp series were amazingly creative. I ended up with nikon for practicality reasons, but these weird bois have a special place in my heart
I’ve had an sd Quattro for 4 years. I’ll keep it until it craps out, and then try to find another one. I love the clunky old thing, purely because it makes me work for the shot, and when it works too, the results are just magic.
Imagine it like a film camera with 100 speed film and then compared to that you don’t have to buy, process, and scan the film, it just gives you the file!
I've had three of them, the various focal lengths. They can't handle much contrast, but where I live we have very flat lighting, so it worked out okay. But, yeah, I agree with you on all points, slow, sharp, interesting color, but so hard to work with I got tired of it. Also, tiny batteries that go flat quickly.
Is it something that’s intended to be more for studio photography/highly controlled environments? I know a lot of the large format cameras that do 100+ megapixel photos are often used for studio stuff because of their slow processing speeds and other limitations. This sounds similar even though it’s a lot more compact and looks like something mean to be a lot more “run and gun” than trapped in a studio. Hopefully that make improvements for future models, that’s a really cool camera
Biggest mistake was buying a Sigma Quattro H. I took care of the camera, no tomfoolery, and the sensor is fried, probably overheated. Now, I have a metal brick with a 21mm ultra wide equivalent lens collecting dust. 😢😭
love the size and shape, BUT can't shoot above iso 100?!?! that makes the thing completely useless! you can only shoot outside on a sunny day and NOT in the shade. :(
Happily shooting ISO640 and 800 on these. Chromatic noise can be alleviated via detailed post options in Sigma's software. 'ISO100 only' is a common misconception with this line of Foveon sensors.
I have the dp0 Quattro and learned to treat it as a specialty camera. I mostly use it for landscapes and it just absolutely shines. It’s my digital XPan / digital 6:7 medium format camera for a fraction of the cost. A killer camera but not an “everyday carry” camera. I wouldn’t mind if they release a new APSC version. I don’t need it to be full frame. I just want a Foveon body that can take L mount lenses.
These are pretty awesome. I have one of the original DP2's, and also had a DP2 Quattro come across my work desk about a week ago. I think the best way to think about them is as if they're medium format. Similarly slow, but also produces quite the unique image, just as a medium format camera would!
I have an SD Quattro. It has the same limitations as the DP3 Quattro but I can swap out lenses. Using fast high quality lenses is an absolute must. It's a challenge to shoot with but when it hits, it hits.
Fast lenses = shallow depth of field = waste of a Foveon sensor that allows to show insane amounts of detail IF you have details in depth of field. I recommend shooting all Foveon cameras on a tripod, set them to ISO 100, cable release with long exposure times and closing down to maximize for depth of field.
It's almost like they should work with Sony on building the perfect camera. The Sigma's images look better than Sony's but Sony's cameras work better than Sigma's
Not a big fan of fixed prime lenses cameras. The DP series is nice, and the sensor are awesome, but I would rather put my money in the SD Quattro cameras. Had a SDQ-H for a little while, and it's a litteral beast. too bad they are quite pricey and rare now
The SDQ is a beast until you want to shoot red/orange/yellow, or unless you want a pocket cam for the day. This is why I've kept the DP3Q and DP3M. The SDQ is definitely the best designed camera I've ever used though, what a tank!
@@jordylaforge3522 Honestly, the SDQ, or any Foveon cameras in general, CAN'T be used as primary cameras for (almost) anybody. They are cumbersome, generally require a tripod to shoot, have limited dynamic range even compared to 15 year old APS-C DSLRs. BUT. As a side camera to use when you want to slow down, have absolutely gorgeous colors and pretty much unmatched image quality until you reach medium format (albeit with a sharp lens) : those cameras are unbeatable. The best second camera you can wish for imho. Your second system should give you something different otherwise it's just more of the same. (also, the SDQ can remove the hot filter just like the SD1/SD14/SD15 except it's a mirroless, not a DSLR ! do for IR photography it's the best camera out there as you don't have to permanently alter the sensor to do a full spectrum conversion !)
I'm a big fan of the Sigma FP and have wanted to check out the Quattros mainly out of pure curiosity. But I'm kind of wary now if you are saying that they can't take reliably good photos when ISO is over 100, which is kind of ridiculous... Anyone else think otherwise?
You would've lost that bet 😜 I always wanted a DP0, but the prices were almost always outrageous, and when it was cheap (a brief window many years ago) I didn't have the funds ☹️
I think it's a cashgrabby gimmick camera with a bad sensor. I'm sorry, I love low ISO, I shoot on 50 and 25 speed film regularly. But a digital camera needs more range than that, I'm positive they marketed their design failure as "film like photos"
I have a friend who is obsessed with the sigma dp line of cameras. They all had the same issues mentioned in the shorts. Frankly, I think the image quality alone is not enough to make up for all the other issues. Also the battery performance of these cameras ate horrible. I guess this is fine if you really love that specific sensor. But dont expect anything more than shooting landscapes or anything that is still. I heard some use this to do product shoot as well.
I don’t know what your post processing is like but the shots on this short seem way too low fidelity for me to think twice about this and I have an 80d and 35mm film cameras. Maybe its youtube but I am sure I have sen much better on here in terms of quality
I just checked prices and compared them with the ones from a few weeks (because of another video about it) and they sky rocketed like I've never seen before.
I can hear the resale prices climbing 😢
They're already too high.
I do wish they were lower. There's not a lot of them out there, and they are good, so the price jumps.
I have two of these. The 2 and 3. Color is out of this world
@@Chris-ey7zywhat are the differences between the two?
Yeah, because everybody wants a camera that's lousy over 100 iso
patiently awaiting their full frame foveon sensor
I am watching that news like a hawk. I love that they are keeping it alive.
They said they aren't giving up and neither am I 😤
I hope they will bring a full frame camera and some really good lens, small and crystal clear. I am thinking for this as a street photo camera… hope is the focus 😊
Yep , X 3

"the lens is high resolution"
Finally, a genius talking about how the signa sensor is superior on the level of details , and refer to a video recording of the photos.

Probably this is the thinnest camera on a normal sized lens I've seen yet! 😯
Is it something that’s intended to be more for studio photography/highly controlled environments?

Except for all the problems that other cameras don't have, I love this camera. 😉😉😉
Sigma camera 💀
🤫🧏♂️
What would a beta camera be then?
That thing is a work of art in itself ❤
This thing sounds like it was meant for a tripod if it is adding an unnecessary amount of noise after ISO 100
exactly correct. sigma "cameras" need to not be called cameras but "imaging tools".
Ergonomic is on high level
Yea I’ve never seen it because I always sort prices low to high and never get past page 3 😂😂😂
Looks like it's from the 1980's with they wear and tear plus it's general shape

Sigma camera 😢
Oh I remember this camera!!!
The lens is high resolution? THE LENS? And the Sensor puts out good detail?! Bro you got it so much reversed
Oh come on now, I watch Mattias Burling 😉
That never ever arrived here in the Philippines.
Saw it before, many times … what do i get?

You have a new microphone? or a cold? You sound different.
Sigma
Sony is developing a variant of this.
An aps-c 20mp sensor made by Sigma providing "unparalleled detail". Tell me more.
@volumetric9454 Good information, thanks!
First of all, it's a disgusting, awkward design. This is inconvenient to use. This was not designed by a photographer.
Link to get that camera?
Lens is incredible high resolution😂 ??????
I have the original DP1
Did you just bake a cake, before filming this video?
Camera lenses don't effect resolution.
google search "lens resolution"
The subtitles are very disturbing
looks weird to hold
Right after watching this, I took to Ebay and just bought a DP3. Is the DP3 the best upgraded model? Or is the DP0, DP1 and DP2 each unique???
The DP0, DP1 and DP2 are all the same generation, just the different focal length lenses. Enjoy!
I fell down the rabbit hole and ended up buying the entire series (all 4 of them). 😅
Some of the most unique point n shoot experience ever!
Can't shoot above ISO 100??? Nani?
Definitely seen it before and like what I’ve seen but it’s overpriced.
Just use the same sensor on a different canera

Hope they can perfect it, images from cmos sensors need so much work in editing to look good, would be great to get great colors by default
I'm so in love with this camera's! I accept every quirk they have.
