  • The beam trawler Enterprise owned by Ocean Fish and the Spanish flagged vessel Udra make their way to the gaps in poor weather.
Newlyn's fishing community thrives on these who make a living going out Through the Gaps. The fishermen of Newlyn land the finest handline, trawl, net and pot caught fish and shellfish daily so that Michelin starred Cornish chefs like Nathan Outlaw can source #MSCCertified #Hake, #Sardine. Digital fishing images are available from stock or on commission. Come and enjoy the fantastic light to draw or paint in the footsteps of the Newlyn School.

I love steel trawlers, beautiful strong lines, the sound of the diesel. I could go on but, I'm at work😂

I would suggest that the first shots are of a vessel leaving, not arriving, as they are lowering their beams. A manoeuvre used to increase stability when encountering adverse weather conditions.

The first shots are of the skipper lowering the derricks from the position they are kept while steaming to take in slack on the warps to the beams before eventually raising the derricks in order to enter the harbour.
