    I would have never thought of the need for a pump room, interesting. The amount of infrastructure for the park, it's amazing to add up.

      Absolutely! So much of what’s at the park is stuff guests will never interact with directly.

      I may have gotten your response and the current rcdb number confused, but either way there are at least a few from that 52/53 which are listed twice due to be listed under the original name/park and their current one.
      It was a bit of a trick question. I’m going to change gears with these moving forward to prevent that kind of confusion.

    You are correct that the Alpenfest area was never on a park map, as well as the Mediterranean Village, because it was never called that. Since day one, this area has been called International Festival and was themed that way, back when real theming was at Canada's Wonderland with the cast members wearing themed "costumes", which I wore back in the '80's when I worked there. I wish I kept my "costumes" so I could show you. I wore front gate admissions, International Festival (which the cast members called InterFest) as well as the Medieval Faire "costumes". The Alpenfest Games area (which was built after they moved Blauer Enzian/Thunder Run) was kind of using the Alpenfest name, but this too was not an area. Just games located in the International Festival themed area. Here is a question for you and your subscribers . . .What was located in the area where they first took out the second track of Wonder Tour, and before they built the Alpenfest Games Complex?

      Yes, since day one of the park being open, it’s been called International Festival. But before day one it was supposed to be named AlpenFest, which makes more sense in my opinion. “International Festival” sounds so generic whereas “AlpenFest” tells you right away you’re at a festival in the Swiss/Bavarian Alps.
      As to your trivia question, I assume you’re referring to the “Ball Park” added in 1993, featuring “Boom Ball” (boat tag), batting cages, and Pro Putt mini golf course? I remember my brother playing at the batting cages and other times when my whole family took in a full 18-hole round of mini golf, usually after lunch. 😅 I keep thinking of that being a recent removal (the mini golf, that is), but I guess it has been more than seven years since guests last took a walk through that beautifully wooded course… that’s probably longer than some of my audience has been alive. 😵‍💫

      WWAAAYYYY more than 7 years. That area was removed when Paramount owned the park hence the addition of the Fly. So let's see. Cedar Fair has owned it since 2006 and Paramount owned it for many years before that. So, at least 20-25 years ago, I suppose. Maybe you could make that one of your Trivia Time quizzes? I see why you would want to call the area the "original idea" name, but, the area was never themed to the Swiss or Bavarian Alps. I really wish I still had my International Festival "costume". It would for sure give you a better idea of what that area used to be themed to.

      When I said seven years, I was specifically referring to Pro Putt, which lasted longer than the rest of the “Ball Park.” 😅
      That would be cool to see one of the original costumes since I’ve only seen a few photos over the years of associates in Alps-inspired lederhosen around that section of the park!
      I kind of disagree International Festival was never themed to the Swiss/Bavarian Alps since every ride had that theme (Klockwürker based on Swiss watch manufacturing, Krachenwagen being German for “crashing cars,” Bayern’s Curve with its entire structure and name as a clear homage to yodelling in Bavaria including a literal alpenhorn, and Blauer Enzian named after a German-Austrian train route), plus the area’s proximity to Wonder Mountain evokes being there among the Alps.
      Perhaps I’m projecting a bit, but all of it screams Switzerland and Bavaria to me. But if you can share anything in the area that was themed to something other than the Swiss/Bavarian Alps (and wasn’t intended to eventually be incorporated into the Mediterranean Village area), I’ll be glad to hear it! I love finding out more about the park’s history! 😁

      I don't know if you are aware, but Canada's Wonderland was supposed to have got a train installed before opening day, just like the other Kings Entertainment parks, Kings Dominion and Kings Island, that would have circled the park's property. I have included a couple of historical videos for you to enjoy. I worked in every one of the front gate ticket booths in the first video! th-cam.com/video/tKKmePj2A3M/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/AuwhyBssI4k/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/EV-0Fd2VMZw/w-d-xo.html

    I wonder if that new pump house is for replacing the one by the wave pool to allow future expansion south of Mooshorn Falls

    • @WonderlandWeekly
      @WonderlandWeekly  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would make a lot of sense and could help explain why Moosehorn Falls took as long as it did to start being assembled! Time will tell! 😁

      Not this week, unfortunately. I walk through KidZville and Planet Snoopy every week, but sometimes there just aren’t any characters when I pass by.
