    We LOVED our trip to The Philippines and we went to 14 different places in total from going all the way up North to Vigan, to the islands down South with the bluest water we have ever seen! 🇵🇭
    We enjoyed many adventures together in this beautiful country and tried as much food as we could fit in too!
    We would really appreciate any recommendations and ideas for our next trip, anything we missed? Where do you think we’d enjoy exploring next?
    Check out the rest of our Philippines trip here: th-cam.com/play/PLEqYdCbbLZjGln3NwiM_Ua2e_mGJDX4ey.html

    The best way to understand the history of Intramuros is to hire a guide who will explain the history of that place. It is full of history and it should be respected. Some bloggers are just playing there. They don't understand how many people died in that small area during WW2. Intramuros survived the Chinese revolt, the Dutch invasion but it was was taken by the British and Americans to them. The British invasion was the result of the war between the French and the British because of territorial squabbles in North America. The British saw that Spain is siding with the French.

    • @Onthemovetravelstories
      @Onthemovetravelstories  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We completely agree that’s why we did the guided tour and learnt so many things! I didn’t even realise the British occupied there for 20 months it really opened our eyes!

      Fun Fact: after WWII, Intramuros and the city of Manila was in total ruin and left as is. It was then that the Governor of Metro Manila ( Imelda Marcos) had the vision to rebuild and renovate Intramuros.

    Hi Jess and Alice, so nice that you visited one of the famous places around the city and I guess you'll be learning that everyone is guiding or suggesting a lot of places for you both to visit around like BGC, MOA, Rizal Park, Alabang and you will notice that your viewers and followers as well subscribers will go up in days here in the Philippines. And please learn to eat without a knife because food places only give you spoon and fork for the meals sometimes have to eat food with your bare hands. You will know our culture gradually. 🙂 Try "adobo" please on your next meal with garlic fried rice or "sinigang". Please check online the local foods here in the Philippines. Enjoy your coffee though.

    • @Onthemovetravelstories

    • @Henyo1070

      Agree! Pinoys eat with a spoon and fork. We usually frown at the practice of using a knife when eating local cuisine. May I suggest that aside from Jollibee (which you’ve tried), try to dine the old school restaurants like Max’s, Aristocrat and the like.

    Damn, I was looking at what Intramuros Manila looked like before WWII and it made me tear up. It was such a beautiful medieval and baroque city, but WWII led to its ruins. Most of the historic buildings were destroyed and it's never the same :/

    • @Onthemovetravelstories
      @Onthemovetravelstories  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes we learnt that almost every are has been reconstructed but there are some parts of the wall that still stand! It was very interesting to see!

      If you want a detailed description on how Intramuros and Manila was destroyed in WWII get a copy of the book Rampage. It’s a pretty graphic description of what happened during the war. And if you’ve been to Intramuros and Fort Santiago you can visualize in your mind’s eye the death and destruction to the point that you would want to cry.
