I'm just so happy to have found you! I am of Scottish heritage and so the 'fluffy' cows are quite special to me. Thank you for all you share and do! It's brings such a joy to my day when I get to watch your videos on Facebook and TH-cam. :)
Hello! Love what you’re doing here! Not to be a pedant, I truly mean this as an educational point for any viewers interested in getting highland cattle of their own as a pet: although they are cute and fluffy and *some* can be smaller than the average cow, there aren’t “mini” highlands. The small ones are babies but will grow to be very heavy (and very cute!) adult cattle. There are some that may have stunted growth if they didn’t gain the proper nutrients as a calf, but otherwise there aren’t “minis”. Just so you don’t get your hopes up and then wonder why you have a giant cow in a few months. 😂
Hi there! Thank you so much for you comments! I would like to direct you to our video on sizes of our Highlands. What you have stated above is not exactly true so I don’t want anyone to get confused. We breed three different types of highlands, micro-minis, minis, and midsize highlands which are all smaller than a standard highland. If you look in our TH-cam section on “cows” you will see an explanation of sizing and what to expect from these animals… we do have animals that will mature under 36” and it is not due to us stunting their growth artificially. Thanks for looking and thanks again for your comment! -Adam
@@fluffyfeatherfarm Ah, I see! My apologies. I grew up next to a highland cattle farm and was always told there aren’t actual minis, they just are smaller cows in general. I figured you could technically breed smaller and smaller, but was under the impression it wasn’t the most healthy as it makes it harder for them to birth their calves. Obviously you guys love your animals and treat them well, (and know way more than I do), so I apologize for my incorrect information!
No I’m glad you asked actually, you are partially right… most of ours have been cross bred to make them smaller… so while they are a very high percentage highland at some point they were bred to smaller cattle like dexters and white parks to introduce smaller genetics. Full bred Highlands on their own will be larger… although some breeders are actually breeding smaller registered highlands now too! Very exciting and lots of good info out there on all this! Thanks for opening the door for a conversation! 🥰
