The man doing the air punch at the end was Dimash’s dad-Dimash didn’t know he was there. There’s an extended version of the video where Dimash sees him, and later, he asks his dad if he sang well. It’s a really sweet moment. The funny thing is that last high note was just an eb5 (d#5?). Dimash easily sings in the 6th octave and can reach whistle notes above that (he hits a D8 in one video). This song is probably one of my favorites of his because he was clearly having a lot of fun with his audience. Unfortunately, the composer, Vitas (who also sings the song-check him out) does not allow him to perform it anymore (you’ll see why). Anyway, great reaction! You might check out his duet with Li Yugang (he sings female roles with the China National Opera) singing Drunken Concubine and Diva Dance. It’s just fun-a really interesting mashup of different musical and cultural styles of singing and also kind of a sing-off.

This is one of mine favorites too. I also prefer 'SOS' from this competition, somehow it feels more genuine. The later versions the whole performances are so (too?) perfectly composed in both choreography and Dimash's singing. Don't misinterpret me now, Dimash is the master in express emotions in his singing, and he sings seemingly completely flawless, and in SOS there is so much desperation and frustration that the less worked through version suits the lyrics better, also in the context of it's origin, the French-Canadian rockopera 'Starmania'.
A matter of taste, of course, so I know many Dears have an opposite opinion 😉!
Anyway, the smile Dimash flashes here is as impeccable charming as his impeccable voice. The guy even has a perfect flirting technic! 😆

Dimash has totally rocked my world since I 'discovered' him last Xmas, I can't stop listening to him ever since it is more infectious than any virus, Dimash is much much more than the high notes, it's the whole package his handsome good looks, beautiful personality, charisma, magnificent wide range voice, heart felt emotions, showmanship & stage presence, it's a beautiful phenomenon !!
