I think Sowon actually does have decent projection, it’s one of her strengths imo, same with yerin. As for umji I think she doesn’t sing as airy anymore, it depends on the genre of the song I feel. Her voice in sunrise was mature and she has some times when her tone is more mature than cute and I feel that’s when she uses less air. Everyone is actually good with manipulating their vocal colors, especially eunha and yerin. I think when eunha sings with a darker, more mature timbre, her voice doesn’t have room to “squeak” when hitting high notes. Even when speaking her voice can be low or cute; she’s just really diverse and it depends on her stylistic choice and the song’s genre/vibe. I think she’s a really great singer despite not having any vocal support. The interesting thing is although she doesn’t have any support she usually gets all the long notes and she does a good job at sustaining them. I don’t know much about vowel placement or placement in general, but some times I feel like her lower belts can come off as closed (?), she has this a4 I think, in their white wind performance and also in the beginning of her i have to forget you performance, sometimes her notes come off like that, maybe also because of weak breath support. Anyway, I just really love her as a singer, I think she’s the most versatile in gfriend. I’ve noticed that SinB and Yerin are both really good at flipping their voices and switching between registers. I really love yerin’s part in sunrise Japanese version before Yuju’s high note. As for Yuju, I don’t have much to say other than that she’s one of the best main vocalists ever 😭 I think her low notes have improved recently and she also has some nice agility that she really needs to showcase more often. Rather than high notes I want to see her do more melisma. I think she also has sense of musicality, there are times when she’ll change the melody of a song a bit and I think she does it really nicely.
I agree, I love the new voice of yuju now more than before, she impact us in the debut era with her high range, and her powerfull voice, now her voice so sentimental.I disagree with yerin, When I HEAR YERIN I feels a lot of things but I understand that is different with each of us. Eunha, is amazing, her color, is so pretty, umji same, sinb is perfect for the melodic parts of GFRIEND songs with her tone, and sowon is impacting me with her voice, she improve a lot since her debut. In general I love all the members voice, are so beautiful

great ranking, mine’s exactly the same there’s only two things i disagree: 1. Sowon being able to project her voice well cause she actually struggle a lot with projection and tuning 2. Eunha being one of the best lead vocalists, she has a great range, versatility, stability and control over her voice but her placement is not really ideal and she’s very squeaky in the high notes, she closes her throat a lot which causes tension even in notes such as A4 which should be pretty ease for a light soprano like her, she also doesn’t support her voice at all. Overall the gap between her and Yuju is tremendous. the rest is REALLY accurate and i strongly agree with Yuju being one of the best main vocalists and lacking REST😁

i'm in no way an expert, but i think eunha's biggest weakness is that her technique is somehow inconsistent, maybe a little bit underdeveloped, so i agree that she needs more training, but she's amazingly talented. most of her capacity comes from natural talent rather than a really extensive vocal training so she has an amazing potential. i also believe yerin has SO much potential; her technique is not well developed since they've focused on her as a dancer and she tends to strain to reach high notes, causing her to crack or to sound unstable at times. other times her voice sounds too nasal and both things are from lack of extensive vocal training, but she has so much power and she's really good at conveying emotions. also she's got quite a wide range for a subvocal. if she gets proper training she sure could become a quite strong vocalist
this video is pretty good, but i just wanna debunk one thing: being able to belt does not equal being able to sing. you can belt your little heart out and still be a horrible singer! anyone can learn the technique for belting, and you can definitely rate gfriend members' belting technique, but being a belter does not mean you are a better singer. for example, i personally believe umji should be higher pn this list! her belting may be weaker, but she has a lot more control of her voice than other members, tho that's just my opinion ☺️
Even yerin said herself the reason she joined KOMS is that so she can find her own voice since she has been struggling with consistency for quite a long time. But there are instances her voice sounds like yuju tho
There are instances where she sounds like yuju, eunha, sowon, or sinb so I get it why she struggles to find her voice. Because Gfriend lacked proper vocal training, they mostly rely on each other to learn. I think Yerin is that intersection gfriend vocals have which makes her a good member to sing lines in between two members with completely different styles to connect them. She has the most potential tho, imo, because she seems to have the widest range. If she masters her skills the way yuju did, i might even be bold to say this, but I think she'd be way better than yuju. But then again, reality is that she hasn't developed her skills that way yet.

I can't see her belting powerfully, but she's definitely someone who can capture emotions and sweetness. *sinb* - definitely her and yerin's place changes. Sinb's voice seems versatile and sweet. She's a great singer for a main dancer. *yerin* - I would love to see more of her skills. I think she has potential to be a powerful vocalist if she is given time and training. I was honestly very worried for her vocals, mental and physical health during the end of 2018 and onwards. I believe she is recovering. Compared to earlier, she has improved in different eras for such, emotions and her deep register. I think she is taking a break from belting highnotes all the time, since it became her brand and ultimately, pressuring. Whether they are a vocal powerhouse group or not, they are consistently stable throughout their career. I believe sunrise, apple and mago were hard songs to sing, so I know not all their lives performances are perfect. They are all decent or above singers, have areas of excellence and areas to improve.

what I know is newer generation idols if the member position is visual in the group or the more beautiful she is in the group, probably that member don't really have a good technic in singing, I never mean that she/he never have any talent just u know right, it's God decision.. humans are not perfect maybe u have the face but you're lacking with other things or maybe you have the talent to sing well but u don't have an outstanding visual
I disagree with some positions though. I think Umji is better than sinb and Yerin. 1. Yuju 2. Eunha 3. Umji : she has good control in her voice, at the same time she has stable techniques. Examples: she can use her falsetto steadily, and her portamento is great and stable. She has good control in both breath and pitch. 4. Sinb: she’s actually not really good.(Sorry about that) she tends to use more of her throat to project sound during singing instead of her stomach, which makes her a bit shaky and pitchy. When she’s singing the notes, they are usually floaty but not straight. She does have a wide vocal range, but her breath control isn’t good enough. 5. Yerin: honestly, she can only do well in chest voice. She can’t do falsetto or head voice. Her long notes and semi-high notes are projected by chest voice only (with half yelling). Her breath is stable, and powerful, but she isn’t rich in singing technique. That’s why she can only do straight long notes, but not fast-turning notes and portamento. 6. Sowon
I kinda desagree in certain things, for example the reason people just to like Yuju voice in debut its beacuse it was better, she had a vocal decline in 2017/2018 and stop hitting resonant notes and supported range has become smaller in mixed range.

1.)yass yerin is a good vocalist even she is a subcoval but she’s color voice is not that good and just feel plain.
2.) sowon vocal is good enough but sometimes is just nahh (dont hate me please:()
3. Yuju she’s voice is too strong, the color of her voice not that good because of her powerfull voice
4.sinb she’s literally as good as eunha but sometimes her voice not that good too hear
5. Umji, umji has really good voice color and a good singer as subvocal but
6.eunha, i really like her voice! She good as hell! Idk much about vocal but in this video () so much people say that eunha doesn’t have enough support whats is that meaning? jadi yg dimaksud support dalam vocal berarti punya teknik pernapasan yang bener, gak ada ketegangan/paksaan, menghasilkan suara yang sehat, terbuka & bebas. Misalkan Yuju adalah satu-satunya di GFriend yang punya supported vocal dengan sangat baik dan cukup lebar untuk karakter suara light lyric soprano, berikut support vocalnya : G3/G#3 (Low Register) - C5/C#5 (Mix Register) E5/F5 (Head/Register Atas) + dia dapat menghasilkan Resonance (lebih terbuka, bebas, gaada tegangan dan gaada paksaan alias bener2 free nyanyinya tanpa gangguan). Resonansi itu kayak level Support berikutnya (Support Lv.1 sdgkan Resonance Lv.2), kalo mau tau bedanya pas nyanyi bisa diperhatiin ada suara bunyi bel (bell ringing) lurus yang kedengeran lebih bersih dan powerful bgt, vokalis idol kpop yang bisa menghasilkan resonance cukup langka dan Yuju adalah salah satunya, penting ga sih support itu? banget. Knp nyanyi harus pake teknik dan support suara? biar dalam jangka waktu panjang suara masih sehat buat dipake sedangkan kalo nyanyi dengan teknik minim/pake tenggorokan/maksa tanpa support kedepannya kalo ga istirahat banyak bisa kena vokal nodul. Eunha, Sinb, Yerin bisa support tapi bener2 jaraaanggg bgt dan masih butuh latihan lagi (udh gitu supportnya ga konsisten kayak Yuju), Sowon dan Umji masi belom diketahui dimana Supportnya bahkan bisa dibilang gaada(?), beda sama Yuju, jadi gap antara Yuju dan member lainnya jauh bgt! Yuju >>>>> Eunha > Sinb > Yerin >> Umji > Sowon. Ini alasan Yuju jadi salah satu Main Vocal terbaik dari Generasi kedua maupun ketiga. Ada yg mau ditanyakan lagi? #bantujawab

@@breats4703 iya diregister low - mix - head dia sebenernya kadang bisa support tapi “ga konsisten” jadi gabisa dikasih konsisten support kayak penyanyi yg bisa support secara “konsisten” kalo kurang paham jadi tuh misalkan Yuju tuh bisa mensupport area note G3 - C#5 (F5), berarti di area itu di SETIAP KALI dia NYANYI itu ga akan STRAIN, karna dia KONSISTEN. sedangkan yg GA KONSISTEN dia bisa support tapi JARANG, kalo udh bisa ngeproject suara dengan baik walau kadang supportnya ga konsisten itu udh bagus sih walau tetep penyanyi kayak Yuju itu udh jelas professional kelas atas

what I know is newer generation idols if the member position is visual in the group or the more beautiful she is in the group, probably that member don't really have a good technic in singing, I never mean that she/he never have any talent just u know right, it's God decision.. humans are not perfect maybe u have the face but you're lacking with other things or maybe you have the talent to sing well but u don't have an outstanding visual

The problem with yerin is she’s inconsistent. One perf she’s really good. Then be back with being bad.
I disagree with some positions though.
I think Umji is better than sinb and Yerin.

she has good control in her voice, at the same time she has stable techniques. Examples: she can use her falsetto steadily, and her portamento is great and stable. She has good control in both breath and pitch.
4. Sinb:
she’s actually not really good.(Sorry about that) she tends to use more of her throat to project sound during singing instead of her stomach, which makes her a bit shaky and pitchy. When she’s singing the notes, they are usually floaty but not straight. She does have a wide vocal range, but her breath control isn’t good enough.
5. Yerin:
honestly, she can only do well in chest voice. She can’t do falsetto or head voice. Her long notes and semi-high notes are projected by chest voice only (with half yelling). Her breath is stable, and powerful, but she isn’t rich in singing technique. That’s why she can only do straight long notes, but not fast-turning notes and portamento.

I kinda desagree in certain things, for example the reason people just to like Yuju voice in debut its beacuse it was better, she had a vocal decline in 2017/2018 and stop hitting resonant notes and supported range has become smaller in mixed range.
