I'm currently in a masters program with a finance concentration. Not sure how to get my foot in the door since my work experience is not in finance(I work in healthcare as a pharm tech). Would you recommend FLDP to someone switching fields or a financial analyst job?

It's certainly harder to get in without a finance background. HOWEVER, I know of several programs that have in the past hired non-business majors. These are typically the programs with a heavier development component as they figure they can train you in finance through the courses and on-the-job training. I would spend time researching and figure out which programs might be a fit, then figure out where they recruit at, or go back-door and network your way in through alumni connections, family connections, linkedin, or whatever you can do!

@@July-ct7pp you have to work and make those connections! I basically snuck into an FLDP program. I missed all the hiring timelines and I had an internship at a company (not in finance) and learned about the program. I was told the program was full and they had no slots, but maybe one would open up in another division. My internship ended, but I emailed every person I met during my internship every week (sometimes more often than that). Eventually, someone in the program left to go to med school instead and I filled in her spot. It was definitely lucky, but the persistence of basically forcing my name onto a waiting list got me in the program.

Are these comparable to big 4? What would be the optimal path for a CPA starting in big 4?

I would imagine the top tier FLDP programs are fairly comparable to Big 4 comp, but I'm not an expert on Big 4 compensation. When you say what is the optimal path for a CPA starting in Big 4 ... are you talking for someone shifting into FLDP?

Exactly, would it be worth it to transfer from big 4 to an FLDP? Or if not what other ways would you recommend going about getting to that same CFO career path through Big 4?

@@DCI.Online I personally think FLDP is a better path these days... but there are many ways to get there. I think the Big 4 path is probably via a big controller role ... vs. FLDP path is probably through FP&A, divisional CFO, etc ... so some of it depends on what you want to do and what you enjoy doing.

often it is. Some programs take MBA grads, some don't.

Yes usually only from top MBA programs for competitive roles in corporate development, corp consulting, product mgmt, etc.
