And then it strikes you... The richest man in the world -- in the entire world of 8 billion people -- has been put in charge of deciding what 335 million Americans deserve to have for the rest of their lives. Yup, and these fools in office continue to allow this behavior from someone who has stated he wants to crash our economy. He does to assist Putin, whose personal wealth in all likelihood is at least 3X Elon's.
As someone who remembers both shutdowns mentioned in the video, I wish to tell all that think gov shutdowns aren't a big deal, they are. They hurt a lot of individuals and families who live paycheck-to-paycheck. What bothers me most is that those responsible for shutdowns usually get to keep their careers nice and tidy, while contractors don't. I've seen a lot of gov workers go private sector because of job security, which is inverse of how that usually plays out.
I don't see members of Congress on the list of the affected. I guess that's why they can pull this kind of shit with impunity. Too bad so sad for the rest of us.
@@scourge6563 Congress critters hold themselves to be "essential" and never miss a paycheck no matter how long or bad a shutdown becomes. Note the longest shutdown in history happened when Trump was last president.
I enjoy the "deep dive" self-paced picture book look this time into government shutdowns... Educational & informative. Also suitable for learning in public schools. Truly engaging and very helpful...ThankYou ! 💙
thank you for putting this together. very concise and informative. i found myself taking notes for the first time since highschool something years ago. new subscriber!
When i was watching this i wished that you had added a line about the last time proper budget appropriations had been done rather than Congress using continuing resolutions which seem to make government shutdowns more likely.
It's very good to educate people about these things. Seems your education system can no longer do so after decades of dismantlement, so it's up to the people to educate each other...
If the shutdown goes ahead then the FAA representative required to witness the SpaceX Starship launch would be unable to attend. No launch, sorry Elon. 😅

Unfortunately, this is important information for us to have right now. Thank you for explaining the subject so clearly!

What a way to start a presidency
hasn't even technically started yet. this is just a preview.
Less “starting a presidency” and more “continued failing”?

Preventing future shutdowns - do not put the GOP in charge of the HoR.
This was incredibly informative!! Thank you for breaking this down for people to understand. 💙
Contractors do not get any back pay. I know, as I was one of the people affected in 2013.

A sadly relevant topic. I expect a real world example to occur quite soon.
Thank you.
Thank you..

Since he's called for a shutdown, maybe he should loose all government contracts now and forever.
Howdy internet people
Howdy there! 😊
It'll be fun to get anything through the IRS during a shutdown...

We are governed by rich babies
800,000 less non essential government employees? Let them find work in the real world and stop micromanaging and costing tax payer dollars.
The text-to-speech voice is convincing. But it comes out ultimately monotone, and it's hard for me stay focussed on the topic.
You need to send this to Elon Musk and his toady, shitler
