You can choose any song from any other artist and interpret it - not so with Ren (Seven Sins and other songs): this needs some background knowledge - not just about Ren's story, but also the general lyrics! Yes, John Lennon was shot by a fan, right in front of his apartment building, because John made a statement in an interview about the Beatles and God (putting the Beatles on the same level as God, as far as I can remember). In the Morning he asked for an autograph, knowing he would be the last one with his signature! I also recommend the video "Defining success", which gives you an impression of Ren, not only as an artist - but also as a person, philisophist and compassionate like no other you can meet in regular life! But he is also a funny, cheeky, humorous and very well-read person, I personally really like this mix. There are also interviews online that are very entertaining, interesting and profound. My Ren obsession is going on 2 years!!!! Absolutely EVERYTHING REN! I know for a fact that I have been fortunate to discover the artist of a lifetime! He writes, sings, plays his instruments, produces, makes his own beats, he does EVERYTHING! But…… most importantly he is an amazing humanitarian!!! 🔥🔥🔥 .Welcome to the Renaissance! Ren is my favourite artist of all time. I say artist because he is a multifaceted diamond! From singing (all styles) to rapping (bars/flows/schemes for days), Bardcore (story telling) beatbox, makes his own beats, scatting and a multi instrumentalist (guitars, bass, drums, melodica and more). On top of that he is the most beautiful human being inside and out who has been through and continues to go through absolute hell. Ren is 33 from Anglesey, Wales originally but spent most his adult life in Brighton, England. He has been very ill for years, at one point being completely bed ridden. He was misdiagnosed for years, being told he was bipolar, had M.E and more and was prescribed medications that made him worse and ended up in psychosis. It turns out Ren had Lyme disease which has caused havoc on his body. He’s been living in Calgary, Canada all year receiving intense medical treatment for his brain damage and mast cell activation disorder amongst other things that were caused by the Lyme disease. He started off making beats at 12 and selling CDs then moved on to busking. He was part of a band called Trick The Fox and was signed to Sony but they didn’t renew the contract after his health deteriorated. He then started The Big Push. They went on hiatus the end of last year after 5 years partly due to his move to Canada and also because the other members are also soloists and were moving around too. This is a really great song but difficult to truly appreciate without context. You need to do a bit of research. Also, listen to Hi Ren - it’s a better introduction and has over 25 million views in just over a year - amazing for an independent artist with no radio play and no concerts! This whole song is talking about his illness and the effect it's had on his life. He was literally bedridden for years because of his illness which was causes by a tic bite, but wasn't diagnosed for nearly 10 years. Leaving him with mental health issues and many other symptoms.
You really gotta hear more of his catalogue. I recommend Hi Ren, Sick Boi and Money Game 3. And then ask yourself how he got a fan to burn a suitcase full of money on a small Scottish island, for an album release promo (an album he almost forgot to promote in the process) If you dig you might find it. God walking to edge and jumping means that God left him. In this song he is talking about physical pain. Thats why he is very descriptive with his lyrics describing his physical pain that came from his undiagnosed lyme disease. Of course he suffered depression as well.
on 3rd or 4th reaction video you done of ren now and its cool you spot that ren has a different style of rapping than most others (thats probably because he is british instead of american though...still cool tho!), what i like about rens music is you really have no idea what sort of track you are going to get each time, there is no 'rinse and repeat' beats or anything that you hear so much from mainstream artists, ren LOVES music (it quite literally saved his life) so making something fresh is integral to him. Have you done Animal Flow or Illest of our time yet? i think you would probably like those, or do BOTH versions he did of Murderer (official video and the acoustic version)
