I disagree with saying that Metro having an entire difficulty locked behind a pre-order or as separate DLC was good. I'm glad that this wasn't caught on by other companies because it would've no doubt started a boycott from gamers because this is such a scummy move. It's bad enough that we have things that you used to be able to unlock with cheat codes or as fun easter eggs as DLC nowadays. If that was done for difficulty modes, then that just tells me that the company would rather go for greed than put in more effort to what they include in their preorders.
I still think it was absolute BS with the ranger mode. If it's the "intended way" to play the game, why is it not in the core game and why do I have to pay extra for it?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t this video be titled, “10 Collectors Editions Better Than the Actual Game”? A preorder bonus should be something that you get exclusively from preordering, not from shelling out extra money for an “upgraded” version of the game. For example, I preordered the original “Mirror’s Edge” and got a replica messenger bag collected by the runners in the game. I still use it to this day, and my copy was standard. No statue, no bonus content, just a preorder bonus.
Thank you! I was thinking this too as the list went on. They had tons of Cyberpunk 2077 collectors editions after release sitting on shelves, so it hardly is something that could of been only received from pre-ordering.
@@BudgetGamingAndCollecting Most preorder bonuses are bogus, anyway, as we’re rarely offered physical items these days. They’re usually released later as paid DLC, so “Collectors Editions” would make a better basis for the video title by default.
This reminds me of the Epic edition of Gears of War 3. It included a Statue of Marcus, some document papers, a COG flag, and some kind of replica award with a heavy metal COG you can remove. Yet I looked at the metal COG carefully and found a code printed on it. When I inputed it I got Adam Phoenix as a playable character for Multiplayer. Now that was something you need to be very observant to find.
They announced it when it came out & even on the box it said to look for the code on the cog piece so you just didn't paid attention to the words & though you discovered a secret 🤣😂🤣
The Batmobile version of Arkham Knight actually was never released. I know, because I had it preordered and they cancelled all the orders for it, citing "safety concerns" with the Batmobile itself. I don't think they ever elaborated on what actually caused them to not release it, but it was very sad because it looked amazing.
Same thing happened to me. They told me the Batmobile couldn’t actually transform as advertised so they had to cancel it. It was the only collector’s edition I ever wanted to get, to this day I have never gotten a CE.
I was one of the few lucky ones at the Gamestop release who was able to get the statue edition of the game. There were quite a few there who weren't able to preorder that one because they preordered the Batmobile edition
I had a friend who was a huge Batman fan, and this happened to him too. Was especially shitty cause he had the CEs for both the previous games, and by the time his order was canceled he couldn't get the regular CE. I definitely felt bad for him, though not enough to give him my CE. Sorry, Dean.
Personally I think one of the best collector's editions is the Driver: San Fransisco Collector's Pack. The stuff there was surprisingly high quality rather than in case of Borderlands 2 loot chest, Saints Row 3 platinum edition or Dark Souls 2 super plasticy feeling additions.
I used to play Oblivion with a Thief tool mod and a Garret voice mod. It was a couple of the heaps of mod I used once I discovered the Nexus and the construction kit. I have bought a handful of collector's edition games, most of them from Bethesda or adjacent companies. The last was Cyberpunk 2077. I wish I could go to the Fallout New Vegas days in Goodsprings. I would try a hand of caravan or two.
I had the Batmobile edition for Arkham Knight pre ordered and 1 week before release EB rang me to tell me it was cancelled due to “The Batmobile not being up to the quality standards from Warner Bros” so my compensation was getting the steelbook copy for $59 aud
I bought the Colonial Marines CE from Gamestop for $15 during a clearance. I did not buy it for the game. To this day I haven't even opened the box, just because I thought the packaging looked so amazing. On another note, I got the Cyberpunk 2077 CE back at launch and decided to hold off playing it until the game was in an acceptable state. Finally started playing after the 2.0/Phantom Liberty update, and I'm quite happy with my decision.
3 collectors edition I enjoyed & still have are Halo 3 with a helmet of the Master Chief which is an or sized case for the game, Gears of War 3 with a Marcus statue, a medallion, a cog flag, and art book, & the last one is Halo Reach with a statue of Noble Team Dr. Halsey's Journal with other stuff with it.
Lunar silver star story complete and its sequel, the collectors edition that working designs made for PlayStation 1 were perfection 👌. Come on wheres the retro love?
I absolutely loved Cyberpunk 2077 at launch on Series X. Played through to 100%, all endings and had a blast. Once they released the free next gen version, and while people were still happy to crap on the game, I scooped up a brand new collector's edition for PS4 off eBay for dirt cheap. I totally agree that the goodies that come with it are awesome and the awesome V statue holds a special place in my man cave next to Kratos & Atreus and Alduin among my favorite collector's edition statues. Still got the big ass box too.
Aliens Colonial Marines never looked fun on trailers. The slightly better graphics from the trailers never masked the mediocre gameplay, I still can't completely understand how people we're so disappointed with that game.
Without hesitation, the best pre-order better than the game itself, comes from Rodea the Sky Soldier. This game released on the Wii U and 3DS back in 2015. The Wii U version was awkward to control, had a terrible upgrade system and even suffered from a few bugs in the sound design where cutscene audio would go out of sync or certain voice clips just wouldn’t play. However, when I bought it on launch, I was surprised to find “Bonus game inside” printed on the shrink wrap. This bonus game, was Rodea the sky soldier on Wii. The Wii version described as creator Yuji Naka’s original vision, is a huge improvement to its HD counterpart. The gameplay was better, the controls tighter, and the audio glitches were completely absent. Heck, even the frame rate was smoother. Without question, the Wii version is the definitive way to play the game. I honestly wish more people had the chance to play it. Maybe it would’ve saved us from Balan Wonderworld.
Best pre-order bonus I ever got was for XCOM (2012) on Steam. The bonus was the full game for Civilization V! I think I put a dozen hours into XCOM, but I put HUNDREDS of hours into Civ. It introduced me to the series and I bought all of the DLC as well as Civ VI and it’s DLC when it released.
Honestly arkham knight is my favorite game in the arkham series ❤ I loved the batmobile, especially the tank parts on I am the dark knight difficulty 🙂 the story wasnt exactly predictable except for the red hood part 😀 the rest was incredible 🎉 I liked arkham city but, at least to me, it is not as good as Knight 😅 to each their own i suppose
question to Jess, if Cyberpunk have in collectors edition V jumping from motorbike, then from where do you have that statue of girl with mantis blades which were in the very first trailer for Cyberpunk?
What people don't realise is the V statue for cyberpunk isn't him leaping from his bike, it's him being thrown from it as the bike clips into the ground.
The list was titled pre order bonuses better than the game itself. But the actual list was mostly games that had unique preorder bonuses. That said portrait of ruin for the ds had a great one. 20th anniversary of Castlevania. The package was a black box with a faux red candle wax stamp seal. Inside was a cd of Castlevania music through the years, a case for the then two Castlevania games on ds, a Castlevania themed stylus, a timeline of the Castlevania games and an art book. Glad I bought one even though I got it after the fact since I didn't know about the preorder first. The cd had so much great music.
Fable 2 had the preorder bonus card game, where you could earn gold before the game released. There was a glitch that allowed you to bet the smallest, but if you won, it was of the equivalent of a max bet spent. Literally had stacks of gold, and bought every house I saw 😂
I’ve gotten a few good pre orders like the Darksiders genesis statue, but my favorite (while not as good as the game.) is the ultimate loot crate edition for borderlands 2. I remember staying up to midnight and getting in line to get and then taking it back to campus and opening it up. I didn’t play the game that night, but I had to open my chest to see all of the goodies.

"How short Resident Evil 3 remake is".... Every Resident Evil game can be beat in an hour or two, in fact they have trophies for doing it, it was no shorter than the others.

The batmobile wasn't the problem ide do the riddlers race gauntlets again in a heart beat before I did those damn open world trophies again. The riddler was the problem not the Car the car was actually really welcome in that open city.
Alone in the dark was not the worse in the series, and I have to say despite the clunky gameplay, it was not that bad. Alone in the dark: illumination was definitively the worse in the series... But I know, we all want to forget it...
7:30 She says 3rd and final plus she says trilogy bt there are 4 Batman Arkham games... Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
The Arkham games are 4 not a trilogy, even if people didn't like the origins one because was made by a different studio doesn't mean its not psrt of the series, just like the assault on Arkham movie
Do people actually like the arkham games the whole time i played asylum it felt like a giant tutorial it makes metroid other m look good by comparison. And all the interesting enemies feel like a style of fight that's been done better in a lego game. Makes you wait forever to get a specific story trigger before you can retrieve a weapon that was in the batmobile all along that would have aloud you to easily sweep the map just feels like an insult to games that actually have you explore something it only wants you to do when its already told you where to go.
Cyberjunk will always be crap. No matter the updates. They sold a game on celebrity appeal and delivered broken garbage. If a restaurant advertised its opening with a celebrity endorsement and you came in opening night to be served undercooked and unseasoned food would it really matter how many overhauls they made in the months and years that follow? They profited IMMENSELY off of selling unfinished code and just because they used part of that profit to do they work that should have been done before it ever got in front of consumers does not excuse them. I really hope the praise for them and No Man's Sky and other games like them stops. I will not congratulate a company for ripping people off but then "making it up" after.
0:46 This game sucked. 6:19 Did she just mispronounce Luffy's name? It's Loo-fee not luff-fee. 10:44 My character does not look like that. She/he is a blond futa character. She/he also had golden teeth.
It makes sooooo much sense to release collectors/limited edition exclusively on certain countries 🙄😑🤦♂️🤡& colonial marines reminded me that the previous generation didn't even lasted 10 years(yet games from this generation look & play the same as last generation, unless there are real changes instead of superficial ones on the next generation then this generation will be my last one & I will just play what I have since I'm running out of space anyway)these are facts.
Alone In The Dark most definitely isn't the worst in the series but any means. It was the worst at the time. But the bastardized recent version of Atari recently created a borderline unplayable game in the series.
Left Alive collector’s edition had a very nice Wanzer battle mech action figure. Far more fun and far better quality than the actual game itself… 😂 And Arkham Knight should not be on that list. There was the announced, pre sold then canceled transforming Batmobile edition fiasco. And the statue was an unpainted, low detail, low quality plastic piece of junk. They tried to make it nicer with a light up effect but even that was poorly thought out and just made it look cheap. Arkham Knight was way better than this. 😞

The devs themselves don’t even include Origins in the Trilogy/Collection
@@psychopath6993 I'm not saying I agree, hell I enjoyed Origins and still have the CE statue on my shelf. I'm just saying that's how some treat it.
@@OfficialMeccaXP That's only cz Origins was made by Warner Bros Games while the others were developed by Rocksteady
Surprise news : having money brings better things to buy, who knew.
20% of Warcraft expansions (BfA + shadowlands)
8. at lease that pre-order stuff is better than the game.
The Arkham games are 4 not a trilogy, even if people didn't like the origins one because was made by a different studio doesn't mean its not psrt of the series, just like the assault on Arkham movie
I enjoyed Alien colonial Marines
She got Naruto wrong too
That just sounds like the English dub to me
@@god145Luffy's name was not pronounced that way in the dub.
Kind of a stretch calling a special edition a "pre-order"
It makes sooooo much sense to release collectors/limited edition exclusively on certain countries 🙄😑🤦♂️🤡& colonial marines reminded me that the previous generation didn't even lasted 10 years(yet games from this generation look & play the same as last generation, unless there are real changes instead of superficial ones on the next generation then this generation will be my last one & I will just play what I have since I'm running out of space anyway)these are facts.
Lol "Luhffy"
collectors editions are mostly a waste of money and space in my experience
Alone In The Dark most definitely isn't the worst in the series but any means. It was the worst at the time. But the bastardized recent version of Atari recently created a borderline unplayable game in the series.
Left Alive collector’s edition had a very nice Wanzer battle mech action figure. Far more fun and far better quality than the actual game itself… 😂
And Arkham Knight should not be on that list. 😞
