  • Video about a trip onboard the Pride of Calais in September 2011. The forecasted weather was a Southwesterly Severe Gale 9 to Storm 10. At one point during the day the wind peaked at an average 64 knots at sea (Force 12 Hurricane). We had to wait for about an hour to enter the port but all in all the delay wasn't that bad.

A beautiful late summer day guaranteed beautiful holiday pictures - or so.
Impressive shots - it looks like the ship has not moved too heavy for these weather conditions.

What sort of seas can these take? When he was announcing the weather I was thinking, let me off now and I will sail another day.

Last time I went on a crossing people were stuffing themselves with hamburgers prior to departure.
    Didn't go too well.

these were mad in 1987 and were broken up in 2012 and 2013... why??? the bride of bruges was made in the same year and is still going on... Stena Europe just got a massive refit, its already 40 years old and has just had it's life extended by another 10 years... what was wrong with the pride of calais? i know prode of dover had too many problems

P&O run their ships into the ground that's why. They never look after them properly.

Replaced by the Spirit of Britain and Spirit of France. Bigger and better ships.

@livetofly935 Because tugs are needed to help the ferries to berth. Since there are only 2 tugs available, only one ferry at a time can enter and thus it takes quite some time
